UVRUGBY has a spectacular aura about
Engine Build

So I am getting ready to purchase the parts for a full engine build and have questions that I am not finding in the forum. Things I have found are somewhat helpful, but aren't fully answering my questions.

So I have a machine shop that is going to rebuild and machine the good ol 6G75 for me for a $1000 for everything, I just bring in the parts. the company has 50+ years of building race engines between 2 OG's.
the OG that is hooking me up wants to go with a .020 overbore. I see the pistons we want to go with, but will those work with that big of a bore? I have been looking at the forum fyi: upgrades needed thread, and seeing everything needed, as well as the complete 3.8L gt Mods thread.

I have already ordered the FIC from BrianJ so that im not worried about. One more thing, with a whole engine rebuild would the fuel system need to be upgraded to keep up with the rebuild?

alright. .40 is just fine then?
and I am shooting for at least 350 whp. before I boost it (FI in the near future). I know when I boost it I will need to upgrade fuel system.

you should either shoot for high NA horsepower or high boost horsepower... to get 350 NA you will probably need to up the compression.. at which point boosting is a bad idea... id pick one or the other honestly unless you enjoy doing very expensive things twice lol

Well I am going to go with a saucer style piston to drop the compression now, but rebuilding the whole engine to be able to accept high boost levels. so I don't end up throwing anything through the block. But with my engine builder he says shooting for that high NA just with what he will be doing will be a easy shot. and the 350 whp was a typo. I meant 350 chp.

One or the other..... If you want 350 horsepower your cheapest and easiest way is to build a motor capable to handel FI...

The only reason I'd stay away from a na build is lack of aftermarket support For the 6g75.... Also parts for this engine is not cheap...

ya, that is what i have come about with my research, but the parts are well worth the money when building it for high levels of boost.

I could do a great port job for you on the intake and heads to maximize the potential of the motor even before you go FI. Even if you keep it N/A the benefits are still there! This would be a great time to consider it while your engine is still outside the car and in progress of being built!

350 all you need is NOS on a stock motor...$1000 just to bore and reassemble isn't crazy but a tad high. Engine parts alone will run 2500-3000 if you plan on replacing pistons rods gaskets....1000 or two in labor to pull the motor and reinstall. You're attending WAY too much for just another 50hp over full bolt ons.

Headers, intake, exhaust, FIC, NOS can all be done in a day or two of way less and get you 350-400ho

twilson, my dad will pull and transfer my engine to the shop that is going to do the rebuild for $1000. and NOS is basically illegal to run in UTAH. If I am running NOS then the reg is: you can have all of the linkage in your car but you're not allowed to have a full bottle hooked up. If there is a bottle I believe the valve has to be in the off position. so running NOS is pointless in the state of UTAH.
