Believe it's routed different because of how the transmission is mounted..but not a 100% on that.

The at tranny is larger. You can run a good quality intake no problem but the cheaper brands you may have to grind a smidge off

Do those off brand intakes works? I swore some said they had problems with theres.

in theory the a/t one should fit m/t but not the other way around. It may rub and get beat up. That motor and Trans does alot of jumping without a stiff and mounts

Don't buy those!! My first one was like that and the bracket broke within 2-3 months and the filters are junk...although my fujita did the same it was much longer of a time and it worked out cuz I had to tap it for nitrous anyways..I like the injen cuz there is an added support.

I did the same thing bought a cheap one for $70 got screwed..company wouldn't replace. Fujita cost around $150 and when it broke they were quick to replace but I did t need to because I welded it myself..if I had went the good route first I woulda saved myself $70 and down time.

Ok check it out. The REAL difference.

Yes, they are mounted different, but that is only a minor bend and change of mounting bracket.

Now the difference with the AEM with the A/T and M/T CAI's is the addition of screens inside the coupler piece between the upper pipe and lower pipe. I talked to MikeW at RRE about this and he explained it very well since RRE got to do alot of R&D for AEM with the CAI design.

When the M/T sits at idle, for some reason it sucks less air than the A/T. When you have slow speed, low pressure air headed around a bend in piping, alot of times it will become turbulent. Hell any bends in piping can cause air to become turbulent period, but less so on the A/T model for some reason. He went on for almost a good half hour with me about how the bends in the pipe had to be perfected and how they would change the MAF readings and air flow each way the pipe is bent or twisted. Finally it became a pain in the ass with the M/T because of the slow speed air at idle. The screens were put into the coupler to "straighten" the airflow that passes by the MAF sensor and give a more solid reading. This stopped it from also popping CEL lights and other nice stuff.

So, any more questions?

Besides the "What CAI should I get?" or retarded shit like that.

So why doesnt the Fujita have a screen? Obviously not doubting Mike's word, or yours, but i've aleays read that the screen on the AEM is more like a by-pass valve to avoid sucking water in (when the filter is submerged, the engine gets air through the screen)?????

Negative, the screenS are there to straighten the airflow.

Fujita probably didn't do as much R&D with the unit as AEM did. Remember Fujita is not approved by the California Air Resource Board. The screen will not stop any water from getting past it, trust me, more than once have I had an "oh shit" moment where my MAF has become wet in the rain.

Stupid me

you sure, bro??

i swear i saw a video one day of a Supra, or some other Jap car, on a dyno, with a rigged up intake + screen (longer intake tube so that they can hand-manoeuver it), where the guys would pull it in and out of a water bucket to show how the screen works... mhm...

as far as Fujita's R&D, well, they make it sound sexy, that's the most important

You're thinking the bypass valve. The screens are just literally 2 pices of metal mesh in the pipe coupler. The bypass valve has foam and crap in it.
