How To Run Gauge Sender Wires
Alright so today I took on the task of running my sender wires for oil pressure and oil temperature past the firewall, and into the footwell of the car without drilling a single hole. The result was a professional looking install, with hardly a trace of wire showing. This same process can also be used for a variety of other electrical applications. Enjoy!
Time: About 3 hours, but I'm a perfectionist. It could be done in half that. Tools: * Jack and 4 way or impact gun for tire removal * Philips head and flat screwdrivers * 10 mm socket * Several Zip Ties * Length of Coat hanger * Some form of strong tape * Patience and attention to detail! Step 1- Take off drivers side front tire, and begin removing all fasteners holding the inner fender well. You will have several of the snap fasteners, and a few 10mm hex head screws. After making sure every fastener is removed, start at the front corner and work your way to the back of the car, carefully prying the fender well out. Once removed you will see this access grommet: Notice the small opening at the bottom of the grommet. That will be closed when you see it, you will need to snip the end of the rubber plug off with a pair of snips. This will give you a nice hole to use for your sender wires. Step 2- Routing the Wire Take the coat hanger you have prepared, and tape any wire you wish to run through the grommet to the end. For best results penetrating the rubber, sharpen the tip of the coat hanger. Working CAREFULLY with a partner, have one person run the coat hanger through the small hole you created with the snips. Another person needs to be inside the car, visually verifying that the coat hanger does not hit any of the wiring harness. The partner in the wheel well will apply pressure until the pointed hanger punches into the car, at which point the hardest part is done. See Below Step 3 - Zip Ties Time to make it look good, and stay together! Using several zip ties, you will basically follow the factory wire routing, zip tying accordingly. See pics for details. Once you are inside the engine bay you are on your own, but I got you there! Step 4- Put it back together! |

bout time gentlemen, thank you! I was bummin for a while cuz I took a good amount of time to write this up. Glad someone appreciates it!!
For the record my glowshift gauges are all working perfectly, and look beautiful in the car. There is a blue color setting that is basically a dead match to our OEM gauges color wise. I love them................. |

Im currently working on my volts gauge. The a-pillar is a perfect place to ground. I'm using my fuse block to wire the lights and power source for the gauge. I was almost done b4 it started raining. to be continued...
