hey guys i was looking into getting HIDs so i went out to try to disable them on my 08 GS and i had a black box. i did just like everyone was saying and just put tape over the second prong and now the day lights are off, and my wiper sprayers still work and my corner lights all blink when i unlock and lock the car. before you bend it, id suggest putting tape over it. much easier to undo , and no chance of breaking anything.

so....talking about saving your HID's....where can I get a good HID kit? with all the harnesses, ballasts, switches, etc....? I know its kinda off topic but...seems mostly everyone interested in this disabling of the DRL's has HID's.

With those HID Kits...most of all the ones I've searched for are H13 bulbs....will those fit into the H1 slots on the projector headlight assembly? any one know?

by everything...does that include bending it out of the way and covering it with a little piece of electrical tape?

if the smallest part of that pin connects...they still cut on...make sure you cover it good

Dear Abby,

I know nothing about auto electrics but I'm more than willing to take apart a computer module to clip pins and wires without knowing for sure what they are for.

Do you think I'll mess something up or should I just go for it?

Signed, measure once, cut twice

Hey guys. Can I ask why bother with the lights? You don't see them when you drive.
It helps other people see you.
The less drain on the charging system I don't think will give you the extra horse power all you guys seem to want.

this really isn't a mod for the stock lamps, its for HID's and projectors. They need to be able to turn them off, to save bulb life cuz they're damn expensive, and for people with Halo's..........

I don't have either but I disabled mine just cuz I could, and if you can't see a red car coming at you, you need to go turn in your license and start taking the bus......I turn my lights on when I think people need to see me, and our cars look cool with just the running lights on.....

I have the 08 Spyder GT and it cannot be disabled. I use the high beam wire instead.
I also wired a relay to activate the fog lamps because wth the high beams on it deactivates the fogs. So when I hit the high beams it also turns on the fogs at the same time. It drives the Valet people crazy!!! LOL! I won't worry about costs. So far I had my HIDs and the same bulbs for a 1 year now.
I bought my car new in the beginning of the year.
I had to buy new bulbs though because the purple hids I got, attract COPS! I had to change them back to white diamond I was tired of being phucked with by the cops.
Ebay sells two bulbs shipped for about 40 bucks not a whole lot to cry about.

Just to let you know I took off the controller and bypassed every single pin and nothing works so save yourself the time. It doesn't work for the 08's

Thank you very much, I also wired it up to my highs.

I was thinking of hooking my fogs up to my DRL's so that they are now the DRL's... we'll see...

yeah, the '09 gt does come with both. as far as disabling the drl, its the same shit. mitsu only changed the color of the box. nothing else, all internals are the same. therefore disabling an 08-09 is the same shit as the 06-07. its not that hard. if you're too scared or have no idea what you're doing then leave it be or find someone to do it for you. everyone here is telling you what to do but you don't listen.

Make sure you BEND it first then over it with electrical tape. Or just cut it off, there's really no use for DRLs only in the canyons or such where headlights r needed on 24/7

You dont need electrical tape or need to cut the pin. All I did was pop out the ecu and I bent the pin all the way to the side (not sure if the pin touched the side or not but it was close) and then put the ecu back...you really dont need to do anything other than bend the pin as far to the side as you can. I didnt cut nor use electrical tape

oldbiker661 is on a distinguished road
Yup

Have an 07 with the black ECU, works as advertised. As to why, I use 100/80 H-13's and they run hot. Just trying to save both bulb time and housing integrity. Other than the pretty color, which doesn't interest me, do those of you running HID's find they give a better view down the road in hi beam? 100/80 is a slight improvement over stock, but there still seems to be a darker tunnel straight ahead in high like stock. You'd think somebody would have driven these things before finalizing the reflector shape, wouldnt you?
