Steelership?
So I called my local dealer and I asked them to quote me for 30K mile maintenance and he tried telling me its $400 so they can change out the air filter, coolant flush, transmisson flush etc. Thats not even listed in our maintenance manual. Then he proceeds to tell me I need to get my timing belt changed at 60K. I explained to him this was a 2008 GT not a 3g. In our manual it says 100,000 miles before you have to change it. Talk about people trying to rip you off. Its sad how someone has to go to a professional for help and they try to do stuff you don't even need to make money. What do you guys think?

I think they're HARD up for cash. Falling for that scam is a STAINLESS you can't wipe off.

meh its reccomended to change timing belt at 60k most people here have done it if not close to 60k, but a transmission flush for an automatic usually runs around 90-100 bucks depending on where you go as for coolant and everything else...relatively easy to do it yourself with some help/how to's.

You don't have to flush the engine coolant on this car until about 90-100k miles. It's long life coolant. Just be aware of leaks in the system and you'll be fine to 100k when you need to do the timing.
Now, I'm at 82k miles and haven't done my timing belt, but I also haven't really pushed my car hard in the last 15k miles. Just trying to gather up the money to have it changed at a shop. I don't wanna dare attempt it....too afraid of the "oh by the way's" that come over me when I have shit taken apart.... |

It says in the manual 100k for our timing belt. I thought that coolant flush, transmission flush were usually good for 100k. That's why I thought he was trying to rip me off. I'm going to get spark plugs and wires done at 60k. My care has about 35k on the miles and the plugs seem to be fine.

changed my belt at 60,000. its recommended at 60,000 for our cars and hos been for years. ive actually never heard of anyone bring up the 100,000 mile change that the manual recommends.
it may be alot of money, but the timing belt isnt something that should just be left on the back burner.
