Good deal for a '11 Eclipse GT?

Hi guys,

First time car buyer and the eclipse gt became my choice after extensive research. Decided to go w/ a '11 instead of '12 to save an extra 1k considering there's relatively no difference between the 2 model that I am aware of.

I was wondering if the Truecar.com value of $25,652 with no options/accessories is a good deal. The $1000 factory rebate for this month is included.

Given the eclipse's production will be stopped with the 2012 model, do you guys think the price can be haggled any less with the car dealer?

Brand new I assume? well man, I'd have a hard time paying that much being that you could get a used one for nearly half that price....if you are set on a new car (and I understand being so) then I'd offer like 23 or 24K and go from there. see what reaction you get. If you wait some you'll probably find a better deal. I mean, I paid 27K for all options and accessories. this is only my opinion. if it seems like a good deal to you, you have down payment to bring down the monthly cost, then go for it.

it depends on the dealer, if the eclipse isn't a hot seller then maybe you can lower the price just a bit but the dealer needs to make a profit off the purchase. i remember when i bought my eclipse they wouldn't give me the rebate cause they said they would lose money cause they wanted 23k for it and i got them to agree for 20k

$25652 is a great price for a gt..Thats usually the sticker price on a gs sport..

I bought my base gs for $19,300.....sticker was $21,500
If you can get $2000 off sticker price...you got a good deal..

Test drive a 2011 or 2012 mustang gt first and see if you're still set on eclipse. Can probably get that for around same price. Its got similar mpg with gobs more power and after market support. I know this is probably the wrong place to putt is. But in my opinion buying a brand new eclipse at this point is shooting yourself in the foot. The value is going to drastically drop in the newx few years. 4g doesn't have a legendary model like the gsx.

Oh and I paid 27k for mine new in 2007. It's gt auto with sun/sound package.

Now youre comparing apples to oranges...

For starters, youre not going to find a new mustang gt for under 30k, its rear drive and the insurance is probably double compared to an eclipse...Not to mention, everyone has a mustang(too common) Eclipse stands out more...

I would say i did pretty well myself. Got my fully loaded 08 SE gt 6 spd for 18k with only 6k miles. The car is almost flawless and stays detailed from the inside out.

Thats what I should have done. I probably could have gotten an 09' gt for what I paid for my 11' gs...Only downside is my"Carbon Pearl" color i love, and it was not offered in 09'.

Go for the 2012 one if you can. Make sure and get the SE also. Then you'll truly have a special car. The last line of Eclipse to ever be built.

OT, but watch years down the line they revive the name with a 5g. They'd have to make it something special to do that though. Sumer 2037 here we come!!!

bk3939 is an unknown quantity at this point
I bought the eclipse because of the modern future car look and the leather interior is really nice. I didn't want a mustang because I hate the look of it. Not into old looking style cars. Everyones taste is different. Some cars look great to other people.

It won't be called the Eclipse, but I'm sure that they will bring back something very similar in the future.

If your getting a 10 year 100k mile new that's not bad... If your going to mod the car buy a used one for 10k that's got 50k on it.

If I could find a 2011/2012 Mustang GT for $27,000, I'd be driving it right now. Mustang GT base models starts at around $35,000. You might step into a GS for that price, but I doubt that to.

I bought my 09 GT Spyder 6 speed in January 2011 -- 7,400 miles, spotless in and out, $16,888 from Cadillac/Buick dealer. Sticker in glove box was $30K+. I'd also suggest a used one unless dealer can drastically discount.

I'd have to agree, most cars will lose $3/4000 when you drive it off the lot; not the Eclipse, BANG!! $10,000...

Some times there is a special reason some people wanting a new car, but in all cases, buying a new/used car with low-mileage will save you some big bucks!!

This is my second new car that I ever bought, I always bought new/used cars and saved at minimum $5000 on every purchase. And when you're buying cars for a wife and three-kids, that about enough savings to buy myself a brand new Eclipse !!

I just bought my 2011 GS last week with 50 miles brand new. 6 year 60000 mile bumper to bumper warranty plus FREE oil changes, PA state inspection, tire rotations, one free replacement keyless entry control, free oil filter replacements and then some for $19000 (thats with tax, tags and plate) i told the guy i wasnt leaving without that car even though i sat at the hot ass dealership for 4 hours. They gave me a free tank of gas, waxed that ass and shampooed my interior (dont know why its brand new) hahaha. They sell cars bro and the way i see it, they need those sales. trust me im a salesperson
