well if ur brake pads r seriously worn down then the metal wear sensor clip on the pad will b exposed to the rotor and when u brake it will make a screeching noise. . .brake light means hydraulic pressure has been lost check ur brake fluid level and make sure it is not too low

Ditto.....If the light comes on when you accelerate it is because your fluid is low. The fluid surges to the back of the vessel/reservoir exposing the sensor. Fill it up and check again before too long to be sure you don't have a leak somewhere.

^I was just about to type that Don. I have had the same thing happen and it was the fluid. Luckily it's an easy fix.

Get a friend and look in all your brakes while you actuate them to check for any leaks in the system. Also if you have a manual transmission, the clutch uses your brake fluid to actuate the hydraulic clutch. You also need to look at possible leaks in this area, but only if you have the manual. |
