what type of oil do you use?

I have an 08gt and I was wondering what type of oil people use and how many miles you wait to change it. Synthec is expensive.

Mobil 1 5w-20. Cost about 27ish bucks at walmart. Get the extended guard filter by fram. It's the most expensive one. Should cost about 9 bucks. It's for synthetic. Change every 3750 miles is what is recommended by mitsubishi. Just make it every 4k, depending on your driving habbits.

if you don't do a lot of milage you don't need a lot of oil changes(i do less than 10k in a year) except for winter. Always respect the 3 months limit or 4k during winter because your engine is getting more humidity during winter.

Mobil one extended performance with a K&N HP-1010 Oil filter.
BEST OIL IMO. I was using Castrol Syntec, Mobil One EP is sooooo much better.
The car runs like a sewing machine now

So would you rather trust autozone/advance auto, or what mitsubishi(the ones who built the car) recommend?

@ bk3939 Where do you buy your oil? I could get royal purple for cheaper, but mobil 1 has never let me down. Yes, you can go longer between changes, but if you change every 4k your engine is like new inside and you wont build up any performance robbing composites in your engine.

if you keep the same viscosity why would you car leek???? and syntetic is better for your engine than mineral oil.

if you don't go with less viscosity there is no reason for your car to leek...your factory oil is 5W-20 so keep it to 5W-20.

Back in the old-days when syntetic's first came out and many engines still used cork seals, there was a problem sometimes when you switched from fosil to syntetics, no so anymore.

Mitsu recommends 7500 mile oil changes for normal driving, anyone here drive normal !! But if you drive it hard, keep it simple... 5000, 10,000, 15,000, 20,000, etc. you can't go wrong and forget when you need an oil change. But if you're a pusher and drive track ect. well you need to be doing it a lot sooner!! Oil is cheap compared to an $8000.00 engine.

5w-20, or 5w-30 and a good oil filter.

Torque on the drain plug is 30 ft/lb

A light coat of new oil on the filter seal, hand tight until it seats, then 1/4 turn with the wrench.

And if this is you first oil change, mitsu uses a sealant on the oil filter seal, and it's goiing to be a bitch to remove the first time!! So borrow your friends gorilla to remove it!!

Pouring extra oil though the engine will not get rid of any sludge!! Regular oil changes with quality oil is the best way to keep your engine clean and sludge-free. Penzoil has a good syntethic oil with cleaning agents that will help clean your engine.

Are you sure about this??? I am fairly certain the air is dryer in the winter.

AMsoil. Good stuff.

On a side note, call Advance Auto Parts or Autozone and ask for a head gasket for a 1997 RX7 and see how long they search. Not the sharpest of tools.
