What was the last year of V6 with Manaul transmission?
I have a 3G (2002 GT) now with 38.5k miles on it and I was looking at getting a newer one, but of course the newest models only have sportronic transmission for the V6.
I know that some of the 4Gs had a 6-speed manual transmission, but the 2011/2012 models do not, was 2010 the last year with 6 speed manual? Last edited by delta; August 2nd, 2011 at 02:36 PM. |

i know for sure 2008 has the 6 speed, they might have made them in 2009 for a little bit too, but i'm almost for sure 2010 didn't offer it, but they might have

usually when a manufacturer discontinues a car like the Eclipse, they go out with a "bang", like AWD 6-spd turbosupercharger nitrous bored-out V6, not freakin' no more manual BS !!!
anyway, i'm kind of glad that this is the last Eclipse, otherwise i would have been tempted to get a 5G, haha !! |

Now it's time to find a low mileage 2009 with 6 speed.... I have a hard time trying to justify spending lots of money for something that has double the mileage I've got. |

Thank's for allowing me to learn something else new today. It looks like in Canada all gt-p's come standard with the 6-speed. It may be the same in the middle east too. I know they sell them in Saudi Arabia, UAE, I think maybe Kuwait, and China. Wonder why Mitsubishi went to sportronic starting in 10' in the US, but kept the 6-speed up there. Either they are very confused or on drugs....or both.

zak i wouldnt go that far, all they advertise in canada now (after i bought my eclipse last summer) that they are only in sporttronic shifting now... so lame!!
i'm glad i was able to get the 6spd before they discontinued a manual transmission... automatic shmautomatic... those arent fun at all ![]() plus i've driven a manual for so long now, when i drive automatic i almost cause rearenders because i have the habit of reaching for a clutch and tapping the break pedal thats excessively wide in autos.... so bad!! |

nothing like the control of the MT....it's just an indescribable feeling to feel the gear lock-in right in the palm of your hand. with aluminum shifter base bushings, a short shifter, the M1 abrams knob, along with the stiffy and engine mount upgrades on the motor - it just feels like a dragster. like it's connected with metal shafts under there instead of dinky-ass cables. and with the stage IV clutch and LSD in there, the gears 'lock-in' even more. there is almost no extra play in any direction. it's just so tight. and tight is good to me. I can't imagine my 4g w/out the manual tranny. fuck that.

I have a feeling you could personally call up mitusbishi (not a dealership) and have them custom build an eclipse with any option you want, including transmission. If they have a "build your eclipse" online i'm sure there is some way to contact the plant making them and ask for a 6mt. they have the design, the specs and the parts i'm sure to do it. You may have to pay full price with no wiggle room for your custom build, so expect to pay something close to $32k for brand new optioned out v6 eclipse

oh I think it's more then worth it. takes away all the unwanted play in the shifter - makes it really tight. you know the way when you learn to drive a manual one thing they tell you is to 'wiggle' the shifter when in neutral to make sure you are actually in neutral? well with that stuff in place you can barely wiggle it at all. it's just so solid. when Freeker (another member) came up from Dallas to have his headers put in at my house I drove his car for just a second and couldn't believe how loose the shifter seemed to me. that M1 abrams knob is one of my favorite mods that I have, just the look and feel are sweet.

these cars are not hand-built, and changing the assembly line pattern for one car must be a giant pain for them... wouldnt hurt to try though
