New GT 6 Speed Owner
Gonna pick up my 06 GT in a couple of weeks, 37K miles on the clock, this will be my weeknight and weekend "Play Toy", which will be added to my collection of other toys. Looking at some mild mods to the engine, CAI and possibly NOS, but want to know do I need to if the trans, clutch and CV shafts are gonna hold up NOS or do I need to beef them up a little.
Sometimes a Man just never has enough Toys ![]() Maybe its a 50 yr old "Mid Life Crisis"...........Na......... |

Welcome, I would look into a new clutch. After mine going out at 33000 miles looking into it the clutch is a weak point on our cars. People have had the stock one go out at 15000. The rest should be good for what you want. Now that said once you drive it it will not be a weekend car you will drive it all the time. Make sure you post in the new members area so everyone can say hi.

wttc.
i believe your question was answered? as long as you don't go TOO high w/ the amount of HP you are trying to add, you should be fine. as the guys said, I would upgrade the clutch. you should also add the AEM F/IC 6 to custom tune and retard the timing if you are throwing in a serious shot. of course, anything you can do to help with getting more power to the ground, from engine mount upgrades to a Quaife LSD and of course good tires, would be good. I would at least do the motor mounts and add the stiffy to combat engine torque. If you can afford it, get a pozzy - it takes the whole power train up a level. install it w/ a new clutch to save money. my 2 cents.

Thanks for all the "wttc" Will def look at the clutch and mounts, figured that with adding a little "throttle in a bottle" I need to upgrade those items. Hope I dont repeat an old event when I upgraded to a Zoom clutch in my old Hot Rodding days with my small block Chevy Monza........put my new clutch in on Sat, hit the street on Sat night, dumped the clutch once while bumping 6000 on the old Sun Tach.........the posi rear decided that was enough.........car did not move.........looked under the car..........saw the driveshaft spinning and the rear end housing sounded like a pop corn machine......shattered spyder gears..........

^HOLY SHIT! that sucks man. yeah I am paranoid about breaking/blowing up my engine every time I go out and let loose. to the extent that I have bought another 6G75 and forged components and am in the process of building a new engine to swap in so I can mash without worry.
look at the difference in rods here:
