Sucked up a little water today

I know a couple people have posted about sucking water into theyr'e CAI, I didn't want to rain on their post, so here's mine. As you all probably have seen on TV , the east cast is getting pounded with rain. I've had my CAI on for 2 yrs with no problem, but today was a little different. Going to work this mornining , bitch ass rain, coming home again was worse, got about 2 miles from home noticed a cutting out at higher RPMS. Pulled a diff code too. So I pulled the CAI, dryed the filter, Yes it was a little wet--, dryed everything, let it sit for @1 or so , put it back together, went out and did a test run, And THANK GOD it ran like a champ. After this I might go short. --- CHOP

I have the hydro shield. And the way my kit is the CAI sits right in front of a hole. So when it rains it gets SOAKED! It hasn't failed me yet! I mean the shield is soaked after driving but never any hesitation

Don't even mess around, its not worth it!!!

The rain has been RIDICULOUS. Today I was driving home and rainwater was damn near close to the intercooler couplers. Any deeper and I was going to shut it down and call AAA for a flatbed, not worth the chance!

Where did you get your hydroshield from?

I just got a CAI about a week or so ago and I haven't installed it yet. Partially cause of all the rain and also because my garage at my apartment has a little bit of water in it (very slight flooding that gets in through the brick walls), so I haven't had an area to install. Lol

You wont have a problem with the stock bumper and a hydro shield. Just dont drive through any big puddles and you'll be fine!!

Yea, I usually try not to even now without it on. Any idea what size hydroshield will fit the Fujita filters? I see like 5 options.

I dunno why people dont get the aem. You get the flexibility of both sri and cai plus you can buy the bypass filter. Smh stop being cheap!

Chop....glad your baby is okay. That had to be a little unsettling.

I have the AEM CAI but added the bypass on the initial install and have had no issues. I drive in the rain all the time but still avoid puddles when possible. I was more worried about the Mod GT hood allowing so much water into the engine compartment but had yet to see any issues with it either. I don't have a garage so the car is out in the weather all the time.

Yea, thx man, I wish Injen had the bypass now, I'm going to look into a Hydroshield, or I'm just going to shorten it, can't lose that much HP, by shortening it.Anywat been thinking about it all day at work, It coulda been worse- CHOP

Yea, same here. I might just install mine as a SRI for now, and then switch to a CAI in the spring. I just don't want to chance it with the type of weather we have been having around here lately.

I mean, I had to take detours just to get to work today because of flooding here in Jersey. (Due to Hurricane Irene first, and then the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee)
