how many is too many

I wasn't exactly sure where to place this thread, however I seen a 2006 gt with 118k... he wants 9 grand for it. If I were to go and actually buy it I would only think bout paying around 7 for it. What do you guys think, is 118k way too much or what? Thanks in advance

Edit: dunno if this changes things but its a manual not an automatic

Yeah, my gs has 99k and runs beautifully. I've read that with newer cars 100k isn't anything like it used to e. 100k is the new 50k. I just want your guys input.

if the thing was taken care of properly, it shouldnt be an issue...
check maintenance records and all that good stuff, and get it for $ 5k max i dont know what a fair price is, i just know our car's used value is sh**

I blue booked it with 118k... Good value is 9k but yea the 4g resale sucks... He put some mone into it.. tenzo rims, drilled & slotted rotors... from the add seems like he's a mechanic type. But I know for. Fact that 5k would be like offering a penny for an xbox 360 haha. I figured 7 isn't that bad but its als cheaper than bluebook

GotRice? has a spectacular aura about
personally, i'd never get car with 118k miles on it but you're right, 100k isn't what it used to be. it's also almost up for 120k service, I'd check to see how much that's going to cost and deduct from the 9k he wants. Plus check when the clutch was last replaced (you know it's been replaced at 118k) and if that seems to be going, deduct that too from the price. If he's been modding his car and stuff and you know he has, actually, that's a minus in price as kbb and what not place their prices on STOCK. Most people don't like previously modded cars and putting all that together, 7k isn't a total slap in the face imo. But the more I'm typing about it..... I'd feel better passing on this and getting somehting else if i were you.

I just spoke to him, he said the timing belt was just changed and that it has a new catalytic converter. I'm gonna go take a peek at it tomorrow and see what it's like.

So I looked at the car today, its in really good shape visually, and from the test drive its good mechanically too. My father knows a guy that owns a mitsu dealership and said that a used car should go for about 2k under bluebook. So I'm starting to think 7k isn't cheap at all on his end... anyway anyone have any more input?

Edit: new timing belt, new brakes, new cat, new o2 sensor, reciepts for work done on it

Well, let me ask you this sir... What are your plans for the GT? If you are planning on rebuilding the motor, and most likely every other component on the car. Why the hell not?

Not at all, I personally believe it will be fine. I have spoken to members with over 200k miles i believe. I just want to see more people do internals and push their engines.

Offer him $7500 and see if he takes it. If yes - you got a sweet deal. If not, wasn't meant to be and keep looking.

I got a 68k eclipse gt 08, for $8,000.
It was a rebuilt salvage, (so everything that was wrong was fixed). It was still in used condition, had some xxr wheels slightly beat up, and few chips in paint, but I had to buy new tires, brake pads/rotors, and struts/shocks. Which is basically normal 60k service, so I got a pretty sweet deal.
