Lower bumper problems?
Hey guys, so I have an 07 that I absolutely love. I obsess over the car because I walk around it every single time I drive to check for scratches. But whats driving me batshit insane is the flimsyness of the lower front bumper (You know, the second lip thats right above the ground) It's cracked in a couple places and scratched. I can take a few photos but I was wondering if there was anything I could do to fix it back up. I heard (and am probably wrong) the eclipse bumpers came in pieces so is it possible to just buy a lower bumper lip?

Not really... This isnt really the place to post that either. But you can get a lip kit. Dont know if it will cover up what your talking about though. Look up the aero kit.

The Eclipse bumpers come in exactly the same size piece you see on the car (from hood to bottom, fender to fender). You could sand that out and get some paint from paintscratch.com to fix it up. Or you could get a new CF front from autocityimports.com, which would be my recommendation... of course then you have to get the side skirts and rear bumper cover too, but that's okay.

You think I should sand it down and paint or get a CF. I looked at the CF front kit and it's really nice but the problem is I already spent a good hunk of money blacking out the front upper bumper in a gloss black finish. I'm afraid to sand down and paint though since quite frankly...I'm a newbie when it comes to cars...this eclipse is my first car that I'm really getting into and I'm scared to death about messing it up...I thought maybe I could plasti-dip the blemishes so that way the entire front would be black but the only problem is that my upper bumper is a shining gloss black and plasti-dip is a very dull color so I don't know what to do that would save me money and save me from making a costly mistake. (Like getting a gloss vinyl finish on my upper front bumper because I didn't know about plasti-dip. I really regret dropping 200 bucks on that even though it looks good. If I plasti-dipped it would save me a whole stack of stripper money)

And it looks better glossed (no offense plasti-dip guys), so don't start regretting that. The second CF suggestion was more of a crank, but if you go for it, go for it! Other than that if you're not sure of doing it yourself, I'd be willing to bet a body shop would fix that up pretty cheap.
You could always have a go at it with a some rubbing compound but I'm going to suggest that it'd be a waste of time and money. Fractures like that in the paint are usually deep enough that it's going to take some extra effort to hide them.

Thank you mwaterous I really do appreciate your help. I wish I could go for the CF body kit. It'd take some budgeting to crank out the money for it since it looks so great. You're right, I should look at a couple body shops and see what they have to say about it. The same place I got the gloss vinyl quoted me saying that I would probably have to buy a whole new bumper or sand it down and paint it which would cost a lot if I recall correctly. Though that particular body shop may have been a bit overpriced. It wasn't some shady backwater place, it was a downtown shop with top end products in stock with souped up vette's, SLS's, lancers, and caddy's out front so I'll browse a bit more. If everything seems too expensive I'll have a go at it myself.

Your front bumper looks a whole lot better than mine and the one on my car is only a year old. It is almost impossible to keep a front bumper looking good on this car especially if you lower the car. Best of luck with getting it to your satisfaction but know that you are fighting a war and this is just the first battle
