I forgot what I was going to ask.

I seriously did... I was driving home with this little laundry list of questions for club4g, and now that I've gotten here, I have no clue what I was curious about.

One of the questions had to do with the rearview mirror. I searched this and found a dozen threads of people looking for them, but not with quite the same issue; I'm driving along, sub's at 6, volumes at 19, and I look in my rearview... and I see my back seat. So I adjust it, and not even a half of a bar later it's looking at my back seat again.

Seriously, Mitsu put in a stereo that the mirror isn't capable of handling, or is it just my mirror?

Also, does anyones 4spd GS idle up a few hundred rpm when in neutral? Mine seems to jump from about 400 in gear to around 6-700 in neutral. Doesn't seem to come back down, just bumps up. Wondering if I should be keeping an eye out for IAC codes in the near future.

My idle jumps like popcorn until im at a safe engine core temp level. If you know what that is. Like the whole car/engine/oil ect is all at a smooth operating temperature then it settles and idles at a perfect 650/700 and it really quiet. My oil pressure idles at 3PSI lol which is pretty low. Um are you turning the steering wheel at all or have the AC/heater on? This mite contribute to the problem but I wouldnt be to sure so dont quote me on it. As for the mirror I have the same problem but yours is a bit worse than mine the way it sounds, and 4spd?! isnt it 5spd or are you talking about Auto because I dont have Auto I wouldnt know. Hope this helped

Yep. I'm just not saying auto because around here we consider it a curse word. You know, "That stupid automatic, failed high school and now it's in my car.". No accessories turned on, just jumps in neutral. I'ma go turn it on for ten minutes and see what happens, I've only paid attention from cold starts to date.

I wonder if there's something we can do to stiffen up the mirror a bit? Anybody done anything non-permanent that seemed to help?

How much are you in for on that build so far, if you don't mind me asking? Down the road, bolt on kit available or not I want to go fi on her. Despite all the haters I think this engine has a lot of potential (if you're one of those no comments are needed, I could care less).

I agree with your view on potential, I will check tonight and see what it does in neutral, I have an intake so I might be a little rough anyway.

I'll third that, because I've seen less well built blocks handle 300+ to the wheels with some insane quarter miles. To me the money invested is worth it because while I know I could start out with more powerful platforms (hell, I could just buy a GT-R and rape almost everything, shucks), I actually like spending time in my garage almost as much as I like eating. And I really like eating.

haha good thread, man. Trevins' car is SICK as a MF, that's all I can say. and he's done it smart, efficient, and shrewd with money. the exact opposite of me. he's got FI for a fraction of what I've paid for it.
speaking of forged internals....I'm doing it now and so are several other GT guys - but I don't know that any GSer has yet - THAT WOULD ROCK, is all I can say. that would be pimp as hell. and have a 375 - 400 HP GS?! that would shut some people up, that's for sure.

Heh there was some intention of silliness with that comment; I'd snap a GT-R up without a second thought if I could afford it too. But that would be my perfect out of the box car. I'd still have a project car on the go.

I've been considering it, the internals+fi... but right now I'm just all talk and no walk because I haven't even put anything on this yet, except miles. Nevertheless it's back there, every time I read build threads on here I have little master plan wheels and cogs turning in my head.

And a loose rearview mirror.

youd like it if you tried it. and you have to go full bolt on anyway for nitrous so the engine still looks pretty damn impressive. theres just a few more hoses in the way compared to yours

AND if you do it smart, youd hide the bottle. and no one would be the wiser

Damnit. They all vibrate, which I can live with because I don't listen to anything fast enough to keep them constantly vibrating, but the whole staring at my back seat at those decibels is a bit frustrating. Most of my music can't bounce it down like that, it's literally just one or two dubstep tracks.

I need to find the antiWD-40.

So it's normal then! You don't really notice that on a manual for obvious reasons, and this is the first automagic I've ever owned. I would have thought the computer would balance it out, but I guess it makes just as much sense to leave well enough alone.

I have an auto GT and my RPMs surge when I come to a stop really quick....nothing to worry about. If you have an auto and put it neutral you are taking a load off of the engine so I would expect it to jump up but not necessarily stay up.
