02 Post Cat Sensor and Codes
I just want to start off by saying, YES I have searched and read and read and searched.
I know there is a sticky but there is no answer to my question. There are two codes im throwing because my headers, The P0431 and P0421. Both are for post cat and the error is below effencity. Well I took a rear one off and messed with it and one code went away. The remaining one is P0431. What I want to know isss.... What code is for the O2 on the front of the engine and what codes is for the O2 on the back of the engine(closest to the firewall). Now most would say process of enlimation would tell you thats has to be front if you fixed the back, but sometimes both codes didnt come on at the same time so I just want to make sure im working on the correct one before continuing. Thanks! |

I was hoping someone else had responded to this. The code you are receiving should also say either Bank 1 or Bank 2 and that is how you can determine which sensor it is. I should be able to tell you which bank is what (front or back) but I do not know but it can be found in the service manual. I am embarrassed that I do not know

06 gt = factory recall with ecu pcm overheating rear sensors. Casing them to burn out precats. usually has intermittent codes as they go bad then eventually the cel/ses will permanently stay on.
Solutions: 1. U can try 18mm rre spacers 2. rre headers with spacers 3. buy new stock exhaust manifolds option 1 has the least success rate and still damages your engine over time $18 x 2 option 2 has a better success rate with intermittent codes in some cases and will not damage your engine. also come with some extra ponies. $600 + $18x2 option 3 is a 100% fix but will also require a re-flash of the ecu and most expensive. looking at $1300 in parts and re-flash alone if u do the labor by yourself. If you do not reflash with option three u can kiss your precats goodbye in another 40k miles or so. Last edited by OrangeDemon; December 11th, 2011 at 06:29 PM. |

I did do some more research after posting...bank 1 on the GT is next to the firewall and bank two is next to the radiator.

That's option number 3 I was telling u about. Precats are built into the manifold. So I would go with option 2
