how do we handle in the snow??
Hey guys, my 4g is my only car and winter is approching so I was wonderin if any of you drive your 4g in the winter and how it handles. I live in iowa so we see a fair amount of snow every year and I want to know if ill be able to get around without a problem. I'm stock so I'm not lowered or anything.

Not terrible, but your gt has tons of torque so far in the rev range that it gets squirrley easy. But it isn't too bad, the biggest pain in winter driving is abs, sometimes you want wheel lock up to help dig down to solid dirt.
I do recommend getting some good all season or some winter tires.

Horse got it. i have the GS so all the weight, not the torque. i bite the road pretty good on all season, but there were times ive slid through stop signs or had to take the next street down cause when i cut the wheel, i just went straight lol. just keep your launches steady and give yourself plenty of time to slow down (more of a coasting than braking) and you should be good man

I have the GS and I'm on STOCK tires, stock height, etc. I did pretty well last year. Just keep your revs under control like everyone said; GTs really do have killer torque (try moving from second gear instead of first). DON'T SPEED and begin braking early (obv) because you will go straight like Jeff said, LOL. The ABS really is annoying. You'll definitely feel resistance when braking so BRAKE EARLY. Also, be careful of your front bumper; I still have dinges from last winter. -___-

well, i'll add my 2 cents...
i have winter tires (Michelin PA3), more performance oriented than hardcore winter traction, but they do the trick... the Eclipse is a great car in the winter, warms up fast, behaves good with the right tires... start in 2nd to be safe, start in 1st and gun it with the TCL off for some fun ![]() oh, and dont forget the e-brake if you get to an empty parking lot ![]() depending where you are, you might get away with all-seasons... if winter is 6 months long like here, you might as well invest in a set of proper winter tires / rims. |

I've spent a few snowy Minnesota winters on lowering springs, cold air intake, and all seasons with no problems as a daily driver.
Best advice I can give you is to get decent tires and drive like you would drive any other car.
