Got raped by the dealer for the first time.
So my check engine light was showing the P04(...something) code, which showed I had a bad catalytic converter. So I knew what I needed to do, replace the catalytic converter! BUT, for a $300+ price I figured that since this part should be covered under warranty, I will just bring it to the dealer, have them run my codes (for $115) then get it replaced for free! So I talked to them on the phone and they said under any circumstance I can get it replaced for free should it turn out that the code means my catalytic converter is bad. Well after I drop my car off 40 miles away from my house at dealer, I get a call saying they can't do anything because the cars restored salvage title. Now it may be my ignorance, but how would I have known to ask for that! They told me ANY condition/circumstance!
Well I am out $115 and a couple tanks of gas, for nothing, thanks to the stealership. Now I know nothing good can come from that place! |

Wait, the dealership charged you $115 to run your codes while under warranty??
A) They should run the codes for free under warranty. B) For $115 next time you could go buy your own OBDII reader and come in armed with the deets. C) Autozone reads them for free. D) I like spaghetti.

Did you tell them it was a "salvage title"? I don't think any warranty is still in effect on one of those.
Sucks they charge $115. My local Hyundia dealer charged $55 to check the Check Engine Light, if it's under warranty it's waived. Else you pay. They said the gas cap wasn't tight and charged us. Then the light came back on and THYE put the cap on so tight my wife couldn't even take it off. We got our $55 back!! Good luck.... |

shit, you can buy a scanner for around 100 bucks. Seems stupid to pay 115 for someone else to do it lol.

My cat has gone bad three times so they voided my warranty cause they said I mite be running really high octane like racing fuel which I never have and they couldn't prove it and i called mitsubishi headquarters they then sent a rep who then just looked at the car for like a min went back inside then left while I was in the waiting room and that's when I was told my car has had some motor work so my warranty is done and which i hadn't my motor was still stock all because they seen the plastic engine cover painted ......fuck Mitsubishi ........my car is still stock other than a Cai I just put in a couple weeks ago

Well the thing is I knew what my code was before, got it checked several places and was told the cat was the problem, but after asking the dealer about it, and them saying it was covered under warranty, that they just needed to run the codes first (for $115), it was almost a guarantee fix with a cheap price. Until they told me it wasn't covered due to restore salvage title. But they didn't bother telling me that in the beginning. Also I want to run headers but when i need to pass emissions I will need my cat back on, is there a way to do headers and just weld a high flow cat onto car? I have heard of that before.

If your cats are plugged There's a way to unplug them that cost nothing. Well at least on the other car's I've done it on. Never tried on an eclipse. But it involved a garden hose an water. Super simple. If you need details feel free to PM me.
