Is it worth it?
I was thinking about replacing the Rockford 6 disc cd changer in my car with a 7 inch Pioneer (AVH-P4400BH) screen. The current stock setup everything sounds great but not having built in bluetooth, no cd track names etc makes the interior seem outdated. I was just wondering how others felt about using touchscreen controls while driving and is it Distracting while driving at night due to the light of the screen. Also I am afraid if there will be static feed back in the new setup. I am going to have best buy install the unit so I would think that there should be no static after the installation. Also will my temp and time in the center console still work? Or will I get just an error message the whole time? Here are some of the things I think I will need to buy. Extended warranty on head unit. mto harness thing for factory hookup, steering wheel controls hook up so I can use the factory steering wheel controls. Is there any other things I'm forgetting? Some other concerns are sunlight hitting the screen, cold weather etc Any input would be great.

I have a 6" pioneer touchscreen and i love it, no issues at all. If you go on amazon they sell the wiring harness to retain the stock amp for the sub and door speakers and the new square faceplate with adapters for either single or double din. I think i paid like 130 for both

check NitroGlisson's recent posts, he just got a Pioneer headunit...
check the "need moar nitro" thread, a few pages back from the end, and i think he also made his own thread... oh, and i think there are also dozens of existing threads about headunits too

You will be pleased with a new head unit. The Pioneer was my second. I bought a used JVC unit and ran it a couple of years....even it made the system sound a lot better. My new system is still in flux. Added the Pioneer head unit but couldn't stop there. This past weekend added 4 Alpine 6.5" and 4-channel amp. Still need to install the rear Kenwood amp and the subs.

Go to crutchfield.com if you want the best deals on your parts.
To answer your question, I had already taken my kenwood ddx-512 out of my old truck and into my eclipse before even a week of owning it. The brightness can distract you at night, but most screens have a dim feature when you turn your lights on, so its no big deal. You're temp and time will still work, however you will receive an "e com" error on the bottom half of the screen. Annoying at first, but you get over it eventually. Also, does the particular headunit already come with an iPod cable? They aren't cheap. I thought after spending $400 on my kenwood that it would be included, but I ended up down at my local autosound place to get one and it was $40, even with a discount. -__- Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk

I think you have to purchase the ipod cable Separately. I want to load a bunch of music/movies on to a SD Card so I can leave it in there for a while. I still have to do research but I would also like to connect my android phone up to the unit to display phones GPS unit. Thank you for explaining about about the time/temp and the brightness at night. Im def going to order my unit from crutchfield. Im going to get the extended warranty. Nitro that sounds like a pretty sweet setup you got.
