The dealer wants to rape me....
About $8k is what they want to return my car to near stock.
rockford headunit, amp, sub, sub bracket, wiring harness for the sound system, back seat, that metal plate that goes behind it, restore the alarm to working order and remove my aftermarket one, air intake system, throttle body, fatory exhaust and manifold, o2 sensors, sun visors, and a few other small parts here and there. after all that is done they can diagnose the problems im having, garauntee the work, and i can either trade it in and get more than 4000 for it now, or start over with a clean slate and make sure nothing gets screwed up on installation this time.

Dang man hate to hear that. After all that work they basically are making you start over.. I'd almost think it'd be better to take you mods off and buy another at that price.

i might have to. i cant afford to keep having this thing fixed. it the stuff i was doing was breaking it id understand but alot of these problems i had when i first got the car i just never worried about it until recently when i started getting rid of my other cars to cut down on expenses and planned to make this my main car with a beater for a back up. but id want this one reliable. Sick of having to keep a tool box, a jack, and a bunch of wires and tape and tubes and other crap in my trunk just incase i break down somewhere.

I hear you
To tell you the truth...that has always been how my project cars are. My definition of a modder (me) is someone who takes a perfectly good car and keeps messing with it until it doesn't run anymore![]() I think their remedy is ridiculous...especially having to replace the radio and such....just disconnect it all and fix the issue. If no issue without the radio...then it is the radio. I would take it else ware or sell the car as is. Sorry to hear about your issues. I have been fighting too-rich codes for months now.

They said when it comes to complex electrical issues, something as simple as too many amps being pulled from one place or a different signal being recieved or sent through a wire will screw up tons of stuff in this car. Ie, tail lights screwing with traction control. Or the guy that was there whos car wouldnt stay running because he ran his remote wire to his aftermarket amp from the same wire that cuts on the factory amp.
Ive been looking at other cars getting prices. Saab covertibles, vettes, vw cc, BMW 6 series, Genesis coupes. I still owe like 15k on my 4g, last year when I tried to trade it I was offered no mor than 5k everywhere I went. I had my stack of paperwork from where I took the car back with complaints of all these very same issues plus some and the Gillman Mitsubishi refused to fix or couldnt fix, and that was when I just bought it brand new before any,major changes. Ive spent 10s of thousands just on repairs since ive had it and now that im older and wiser, I wont do it anymore, I need reliability

Thank goodness I found this thread lol cause I was wanting 4g in the future but now they are starting to seem like head aches. this is the second thread about wiring/electical problems and expensive dealer costs.
too bad these things have bad resale value and you can only get 5gs in trade in value, that really blows :/ |

My dealer offered me 13k in trade in with 90k miles on it. Only thing they wanted me to do is put the stock exhaust manifolds back on it.

they sell used gts for 13 out here but spyders still go for 20+. id probably get more if i put everything back on. if i have to get rid of it id have to just let em repo it because im going take all my stuff off. but thats only if they cant get mine right or if they keep going up in price.
