thats not the timing belt.thats the serpentine belt and it MIGHT be time for a new one.

could be moisture, salt if you drive in the winter, wear, etc...

We have an interference engine, so that's actually the timing belt you don't want going. Say hello to bent rods as your piston smashes into them, and that's only the least of the damage possible. I'm pretty sure the serpentine can disintegrate and the worst you'll have happen is your air con won't work, you'll lose your power steering and the battery will die since the alternator is no longer functioning.. once replaced you're back to normal.

hey man you don't need either of those belts. Take them off cause if you are as dumb as the questions your continuously post on here you shouldn't be driving anyway. Why isn't there a minimum IQ to drive yet?

Its very dangerous, it needs cleaned ASAP... to clean it all u have to do is while its running take a damp rag w some dish soap and stick your hand down there and wipe the belt off.. easy as that!
