Why dont you supercharger guys put on FM Intercoolers??
Everyone drools over COBB's supercharger kit and they have a intercooler so why doesn't even slap one on? I'm just curious because I'm going to and wondering why no one else has. Yeah RIPP methanol cooler cools the temp down but you can use them both and be even cooler....If you're worried about losing boost then just up the boost to the level to compensate the amount lost by adding an intercooler...

It's harder said then done... You will have to reposition the supercharger and I'm not sure the supercharger that RIPP uses can be turned around. (maybe it can who knows) but the supercharger that COBB used is more compacted and can be moved around.

Besides having room im talking performance wise. I have one guy telling me that ripp says its adds to much stress to the supercharger that may ruin it and that you'll lose HP. Fitments not an issues. you can bend pipe and run it anywhere you want. I just want to know if its going to mess anything up...

I think ripp skips it simply to keep the price down. If you do the math that SUS kit per part is hella expensive. Turbos have way more individual parts.

so are you saying there's no reason why it cant be done....The guy who has the kit and has talk to RIPP says its not good for it and its not effective. It strains the supercharger and loses power...any thoughts?

could be since the SC has to mechanically pump air through the intercooler system were a turbo free flows. sounds sketchy though.

the vortec doesnt blow hard enough. they have tested it, and even with higher "psi" increases "cfm's" still arent enough and the air becomes unstable and does weird things, seeing little or no gains, certainly not a justification to the price.
and like jeep said, its a ton of extra piping and just doesnt work right.

the intercooler isnt gonna do anything more its gonna take up space and power and money. i wouldnt bother unless u wanna take ur bumper off and look cool with an intercooler up front

But ill ask again..Z's Stanges and Vettes all have vorte with front mounts why not an eclipse. I understand all that is being said but at the same time there are other cars that have them so why not ours? From some things im reading about supercharger and the things im limited to by using a supercharger I just may und up building another custom turbo kit...any one know what PSI the two RIPP kits are using at stage one and two?

Superchargers usually work by belt drive . Turbos by exhaust gas (recirculation) . Both cases compressed are gets hotter , but with a turbo you are recirculating exhaust or already hot air . So cooling is more needed with the turbo .
But it would be beneficial in both applications . Just necassary with the turbo . But consider the cost versus gain factor involved . |

Cost and fitment arent an issuse. I have 3 threads about this and now you are the only one saying that it can be done and will be benefical when everyone is saying its not going to do anything performance wise but make it worse and lose power and its even going to put more stress on the supercharger and ruin it...

The only way I see it maybe adding stress is that you increase the distance it has to move the air . The bottom line , I think/thought , is that the lower the intake temps the better .

All I'm asking is will it affact the supercharger??? Variable timing fitment money all have nothing to do with it. Im asking why can other cars' vortex handle a front mount and ours can't???
