Looking for a turbo kit test fitter

Hey all how are you? I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Greg and I'm the owner of Ultimate Car Style & Performance. On other forums you can trace me via the username of PharmEcis. I've been involved with club3g.com for a long time and am the personal owner of a LOT of Mitsubishi's. I also happen to own 2gstratus.org. A few years ago I decided to make the jump into doing automotive performance work. Most of the work I have done has been for the 3G community. A few months ago I partnered with another shop, DTM Motorsport. DTM is primarily an EVO shop but we are a full fledged race and fabrication facility. We have an in house Mustang AWD Dyno and have the capability to fabricate anything. DTM has many years of road racing experience and we are pleased to state that we have taken the best lap times at every event we have attended this year. We race what we build and stand behind it 100%!

The reason for this post is because we are interested in building a turbo kit for the 4th gen Eclipse. We would like to tackle both the I4 and V6 and get you guys a quality kit that doesn't have the drawbacks of Rippmod's implementation of forced induction. I don't pull punches, I'm not a fan of Rippmod's SDS at all. I've installed, fixed and worked on probably more SDS's in the country other than Ripp themselves. I truly think that the biggest problem with their setup is their insistence on blowing through the stock MAF. They have created electronics to mask this fundamental design flaw instead of redesigning their kits for proper operation.

Above and beyond that I have dyno proof that a turbocharger will whup the living daylights out of the SDS pound for pound. Heck, I recently ran a comparison of a 5.6 psi turbo V6 auto 3G against a 15 psi SDS V6 manual 3G and the results were VERY interesting. They might surprise many of you. In the follow dyno comparison you will see that the turbo charged vehicle almost averaged the same amount of power even though it was running almost 10 psi less boost than the SDS! The biggest thing to note is the torque curve! Contrary to common perception, torque is what makes a car move and be fast, not HP. While the SDS car did make more power, it only made it above 5000 RPMs. What fun is getting into your powerband only having to shift 1k RPMs later?

The person who becomes the test fitter would receive the kit at cost and install with dyno tuning would be free. We are looking for both the RS/GS and GT models to design a kit. We really think that a turbo kit on the 4G will just absolutely SMOKE the competition. We know that RPW offers a 4G kit for the RS/GS but who has $6k to plunk down on a kit? We want to make a kit that is affordable but of the highest quality.

This picture is an example of the manifolds that we build. This particular manifold is for an EVO and our 50ish trim kits. Please notice the quality of the welds. We have an expert TIG welder who just does amazing work. This manifold is made of schedule 10 stainless steel. This is some of the thickest piping you can use.

This is a custom downpipe for an EVO as well. It goes along with the turbo kits that we sell for the EVO guys.

Manifold w/ turbo attatched on an EVO... Just for shits and giggles.

Anyways we are serious about producing a kit for the 4G market and we are looking for someone in the mid Atlantic area to step up to the plate and donate their car to us for a little bit so we can build an awesome product for the rest of your fellow brethren. I know you guys aren't happy with Ripp. The 3G guys haven't been happy with Ripp for a LONG time and we are here to try and give you guys what you want. Real power without the crap of bandaid electronics.

Once again Russ... all ya gotta do is coordinate with me to have things shipped. I am a trustworthy dude, ask Mike.

Sucks you guys are on the wrong side of the country. You could have a turbo GT running around this week.

I posted in the GS forum... whoops.

Anyhow, where are you guys? I would definatly be interested, even if it was a ship it to me and put it on. I have installed plenty of things and designed plenty of things, so installing a bolt on kit and drafting changes properly would be no issue at all. I also have nearly free dyno access.

That wouldn't work as we need the car to design the kit. Kind of hard to make piping if you have no car to figure it out eh?

We are located in Dulles, VA which is why we are looking for someone in the mid atlantic region.

A twin turbo kit would add complexity and cost. The production kit will be a single turbo. That doesn't mean a one off couldn't be made for the proper client.

YOUR IN VA!!!!! I'm in Petersburg and I might be willing to to be your test fitter (wife approval required) my only questions are how much is it gonna cost me and how long would the car be down for? I can go a month or two without it (I have a motorcycle to ride) but not to long. Also did ya'll happen to do a turbo for a guy called Dustin with a silver S2000? Just curious cause hes a buddy and I know he prototyped a kit for some company in VA. Anyways PM me with the details please.

Anyone who is able to be without their car for a little while and the funds should jump on this. Your car would be certainly very unique, considering there are no other single turbo kits available for our GT.

We've been extremely busy and not able to keep up with all the forums we are on. We are still looking for a V6 test fitter although there are several people who are interested. Your best bet is to call the number listed at DTM Motorsport:: About

Just to give you guys a peak at the kind of things going on at the shop, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXweazIMZB0

We fully built that car from the ground up. Started out as a stripped bare unibody.
