What kind of paint is everyone using on all the plastic under the hood? And how does the paint hold up with all the heat?

You can use any paint as long as u use adhesive promoter first. I used it under my hood with color matched paint and it looks perfect almost a year later. Or you could just use high temp paint

If u don't want to spend extra cash, u don't need a promoter or primer. I didn't use any, I just put three coats on everything I painted and it turned out super glossy, and absolutely FLAWLESS. And believe it or not, the heat from the engine actually helps ro dry, harden, and sustain the paint atleast with my experience, don't know about anybody else.

So my best bet would be to just get a high temp paint and put a few coats on it and save some money??

Just clean it good. I've been on the dip your csr forum and some guys have plastidiped under their hood. Handles the temp fine

I love plastidip!! It's like crack just can't stop using it. I may go with dip so I can just rip it off if anything goes wrong.

Yea man, all the pieces u want to paint, clean them with hot soap and water very thoroughly, and then dry them thoroughly, and u can buy some spray paint from advanced auto parts, or walmart, and just spray one coat, let it dry, then the 2nd, let it dry, then the 3rd, let it dry. Then put everything back in the car, drive around for 15 min to get the engine hot, and voila, perfect pain it only takes like 15 min for each layer to dry, cuz by the time u get to the last item, the first couple are almost there, if ur painting multiple items.

Those droplets are there cuz it rained

Flawless

And this is what it looked like before the paint, big difference

Hopefully this helps u out vazquez.

not saying u need to but i would suggest a high heat primer as well only to prevent long term flaking

Yea, I can't freakin remember what type of paint I used, but I think not only was it semi-gloss but some sort of protectant, idk lol, I'm trying to remember but this was like 5-6 months ago lol but so far in 6 months my paint has held up fine.

Decided on going green under the hood. Used a high temp paint. Finished it this morning. Thanks for all the input and help.
