![]() ![]() anyone have any ideas on how i could make the rear wheels spin? im learning how to weld and i have a bunch or bike/car parts laying around...im pretty sure i could get this knocked out...just having problems with the rear wheels

couldnt you make something that looks similar to this:
I--0 horrible with text but essentially the I would be a steel or better quality/sturdier metal plate welded to the axle and attached to the wheel where the plate would sit in a special holder that allows it to rotate. fucked up i know but makes sense in my head. |

actually, how partial are you to a traditional axle (flat i mean) and just adjust the angle of the wheels like this?

from the outside:
wheel -- 4-5" -- support / pivot point with bearing (like a round hole (cut tube) with a bearing inside it ---- 4-5" ---- 2nd support w/ bearing attached to frame? |

i just need to figure out what spins...those rods the rear wheels are attached to are obviously stationary....but...how does it spin...

but if the tubular sections are stationary, then you need some kind of bearing at the wheel end... like a bearing / rotating assembly sandwiched between 2 plates. 1 plate attaches to the stationary tube 1 plate attaches to the wheel. i dont even know if thats possible, but say a bearing has 2 rings, right? you could weld the inner one to the inside plate, the outer one to the wheel-side plate, and ouala? |

glad i can help...
i'm not familiar with axles, bearings and sh**, but again if the whole "axle" doesnt spin, you need something that will at the end... |

if the outer ring at the top (left pic) is fixed and doesnt rotate when you rotate the hub assembly, then weld that onto the end of your axle, and boom?

actually, easiest way to test it is, put one of those on a table / floor, lug nuts up. put some weight on it, and turn, and see what happens.

As for the bend in the axles, how about a u-joint setup from a parts store. When i worked at advance auto i came acrossed these tiny u-joints from god knows what that were an inch from cup to cup at most. Just throwin ideas out there lol

1. Chain drive like a bike...but then I saw you were going traditional "Old School" front foot peddle style like the 1st gen Big Wheel I had in the 70's...oh shnikey...did I give away my age.. ![]() 2. You could also do like a solid axle through a tube...that might give you more options to attach it to a platform or fabbed frame. Good luck Bro!!! Can't wait to see it!!!!...slam it!!!!! ![]() ![]() B.

i definitely want it to be cambered.
![]() see the axles are stationary and angled upwards...while the hub somehow spins...i guess the only way to figure it out is playing with the junk i have laying around tomorrow. thanks for the imput guys

next thing you know you'll find a video of Kevin in the "driver" seat, his buddy in the Eclipse pulling the trike with a rope attached to the rear bumper at 60 mph around a track

to get the camber, you just need to install your fixed half-axles at an angle... and if you wanna get real fancy, make it adjustable with a pivot point in the middle (of the 1/2 axle) and slider-thingy at the end (of the half-axle)

Just make sure that you weld them in super good, and make sure your cross camber is somewhat decent aka measure top to top and bottom to bottom

put it on air bags! you could make an actual suspension for it and bag it...a little more complicated than what you want, i'm sure, but it would be sick! controlling the air and keeping the tank fully pressurized would be a problem in and of itself but it would still be awesome

Go to your local trailer supply store and pick up a hub. Weld a tube onto it and your done.

You might be able to cut off the top of a 360 degree caster and weld and bolt it onto the rear wheels that way you get the smooth spin you want! Badass build can't wait to see it finished!
