my kids are 18 and 16 and going there own directoin, wife and I have good careers. I like doing things with my eclipse and she likes trying to keep the grey out of her hair. it is more a matter of what little time I have for me or should i sacrifice it for her? Right now the answer is me. Love me for who I am or dont let the door hit you in the ass.

everyone needs a hobby...if that hooby takes away from living then its not worth it. So if she cant understand that you like to spend some time in your own lil world and do what you love then its not meant to be. Plus it could the fact that she had to deal being alone again. For the last 18 years its been a collective family now the kids are doing their own thing so maybe that scares her so she lashes out that you have something like a hobby to keep you mind busy.

Just my opinion.

That is actually a very deep question...having just gone through a shit ton of marriage counciling I can tell you it fundamentally boils down to two questions; If you could find a compromise would you want to stay married, and second, are you willing to put the effort forward to make that compromise.

I personally believe that you can have both, if you want. Just like your car, she needs regular maintenance, She needs to bragged about shown off, given attention, etc...

You can always trade for a newer model of wife but it's going to need the same attention. This wife is reliable and has gotten you a long way and has never broken down on you. Just saying...Hope I'm not being to bold.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

i'm pretty lucky, my lady loves cars, she even bought me the motor mounts for my birthday coming up! but she still tries to stop me from spending money on the car... at least not spending too much money on it.. hehe she understands that its a hobby and buying me parts just caused my need for more to grow exponentially... but i'll deal for now

I agree with you 100% on this. You need time apart to miss one another. You can't be up one another's asses 24/7 or you will go crazy. Everyone needs alone time to do the things they like doing.

I agree with what Iraq said 100% but the difference between him and the OP is marriage. That is a lifelong commitment where you give up a big chunk of your life to be with someone. Thats not to say you shouldnt have your own time but if it hurts the marriage then you should stop because your wife should come first no matter what, I dont care what any of you think about thatm its the truth. I would want my wife to do the same thing for me if in fact she started doing something that took away from our time as a couple. Im not married btw, I have a gf who I love very much she doesnt "understand" my passion for this car or the meets I go to but she supports me and likes to be involved with what I do because it puts a smile on my face. At the the end of the day we are both happy. But honestly, if you need to ask should I put my wife or my car first.... thats common sense

me and my wife have an understanding,i dont hinder the things she likes to do and vice versa.i see an issue here if one or the other in a marriage has a problem with the other doing the things the other likes as long as its not an every day thing where hrs upon hrs are not being spent with one another and are not honest things.i love my wife no doubt.life is short and i will continue to do the things i want to do with consideration of the wifes feelings.i didnt get married to stop doing the things i love to do.

too the OP best thing to do is sit down and talk to her, like somebody said up above, empty nest syndrom. My step and my mom both have been going through it. but my step mom took a step in a direction in telling my brother if he stays home, goes to college, and gets a job, he can eat free, sleep free, insurance free. only thing he basically has to pay for is gas and college. but my dad sat her down and talked to her because she was doing the samething to him. after talking they got things figured out and things are great now. hobbies keep people in their happy worlds, people get out of that world and shit hits the fan. With that long of a marriage don't give it up over a car, but dont give up the car so easily. Talk, communicate with your spouse.

Obviously both have a place in our life but the car is only an outlet for me from everything else, and the woman needs to understand that and if she doesn't then it wont work in the long run. I would want my wife to do the same thing for me if in fact she started doing something that took away from our time as a couple. Im not married btw, I have a gf who I love very much she doesnt "understand" my passion for this car or the meets I go to but she supports me and likes to be involved with what I do because it puts a smile on my face. At the the end of the day we are both happy. My step and my mom both have been going through it. but my step mom took a step in a direction in telling my brother if he stays home, goes to college, and gets a job, he can eat free, sleep free, insurance free. only thing he basically has to pay for is gas and college. but my dad sat her down and talked to her because she was doing the samething to him. after talking they got things figured out and things are great now. hobbies keep people in their happy worlds, people get out of that world and shit hits the fan. With that long of a marriage don't give it up over a car, but dont give up the car so easily.
