HOW TO: Pollen Filter install

Pollen Filter pdf

Don’t mind the dust, this it why I’m doing this. All I can say is the Mitsu instructions suck. Go figure and now I have a huge welt on my arm. But things should go better for you after seeing this.

Step 1: Loosen the piston string. This creates that slow to open effect. It just pulls forward and pops out to the right. Since it’s retractable I thought I might loose it so I stuck it in that little grove you see in the second picture, but don’t worry about it, just let it go.

Step 2: There aren’t no screws yet. The actual door it now just secured by hinge snaps. Give it a moderate tap under each of the three hinges from below and you’ll be able to remove it.

Step 3: Next you have 4 screws. Two on the bottom and two pointing 90 degrees up. Don’t tug at anything yet till you read the next step. This is where I kinda hurt myself. No biggy, but still.

Step 4: You want to pop the dash side panel’s bottom clip. Just firmly tug it. Remember if you jank thinks you will break them. If you unsure about clips, just use slow forward pressure, but tugging is better if you know nothing’s going to stand in your way.

Step 5: The back of the backing trim has 5 or 6 clips and two alignment guides. They are not very heavy weight clips, but you still have to tug to get them loose. The whole thing just doesn’t slide out. There are holes on the bottom you can use for leverage.

That leaves you with this… The next few pics are just for show.

Step 6: Using a Stanley knife with a new blade, cut out the indented section. Two passes with a new blade cut though without a problem.

Step 7: The filter mounts with the peaks pointing up like hills. It’s not very sturdy. The additional piece that comes with the filter will plug the hole. It slips in to a hoop on the right and snaps closed with a claw on the left.

Step 8: Put everything back together after you clean it. Align the top guide pins, pop the clips of the backing back in, then the side clips, then the screws, then the hinges, then the string and your done.
