This is crazy man, our cars are almost exactly the same. Same year, model, and color. I also have the Injen CAI, exhaust, and stoptech rotors. Are you running manual or auto? Cool to see more Pure Reds!

Us pure red guys know how to mod a car, am I right? I barely see other 4g's on the road in my area let alone reds. - I would love to own a 6 spd but the price and condition was too good to pass up on my auto, no regrets! Do you plan on doing headers anytime soon Tom?

I do, its next on the list! This is my first car, and I'm learning how to work under the hood with it, so I'm still on the fence of whether I should install them myself or get a shop to do it. I know some guides say to drop the front axel to remove the rear OEM header, others say you can just cut it out. Did you install it yourself?

While were on the topic, my injen CAI whistles at an extremely high pitched vebrato at around 1500-2500 rpm. I know CAIs let more sound escape, but I've never heard it this way on any other CAI before. Sometimes it sounds like a squeaky belt (all my belts are fine, its just the intake). Does yours do this too? It drives me mad, sounds like somethings broken.

I ended up taking it to a local shop for the headers, it took about a week for the guy to install them and extend the o2 sensors to fit in the correct spot (Tuner ended up disabling 02's anyway). He said it was a big headache for him, changing lifts and lifting the engine etc. This is also the first car I have ever worked on (and has really gotten me into the car world). My friends and I usually like to tackle these kinds of jobs ourselves because of the availability of a hydraulic lift my friend owns. But after all the reading Ive done about the installation I thought this project was beyond our ability to complete succesfully.

My car makes a similiar high pitch whistle resembling a turbo at around 3500 rpm that started when the headers were installed. I think it is the obx header flex pipe. At the time without the headers, the injen sounded great, no whistles.

I've got an Injen CAI as well. No whistle I hear, but the induction noise only starts to become audible at around 3500 rpm. Once past 4k, it really howls.

Mine must be busted then... during my normal driving shifting at 2k, it whistles with vibrato and sounds broken... I took it off and reattached it to make sure there were no leaks but it continues.

I'll record an audio sample some time, I've been meaning to anyways.

Maybe it's a bad mount? I was missing a rubber bushing and the other one didn't line up perfectly. Knock on wood, hasn't been an issue though.

Between this and having to cut down my "direct bolt-on" exhaust by an entire inch, I'm not too impressed with Injen...

Why did you have to cut yours?

From doing a lot a research on this forum, one of a the few throttle body upgrades is sending our current throttle body out to a company called proflow. They will bore it out a couple milimeters. It makes the car pretty rev happy but comes at a fairly steep price.

Thank you man! I am going to try to do some exterior mods this year as i did only engine mods last year. The coilovers make a world of difference and i am very happy with the results . I think the black accents on your car look really nice and i have always envied the 6spd!

So, these coilovers have been super bouncy since ive installed them... 1st I set the dampening to very soft on all 4 corners(Helped a little). Then when the spanner wrenches showed up, increased the preload on the front by 2 collar turns and on the back 1 turn, Set dampening to 10 clicks from soft on front and 15 from soft on back... Still bouncy, like i can feel the wheels come off the ground going over a series of bumps on the road. I have never dealt with coils before and reading other forums cant seem to point to an answer. Any suggestions would be very helpful!
