LOL. That's a blown engine that came from another car. I'm using the block to moch up the transmission. That way I can still drive my car.

Thank you. I'm happy it's running too. I was only down 5 weeks or so. Sadly I did miss a fair bit of racing. And it took a while for the rings to seal. Just in time to tear it apart again for this drive line swap. Lol.

Engine removal started yesterday. The monster engine is on the stand for the next few weeks. Evo transmission has been test fit into the car. YES it fits over the steering rack. No modifications are required to the steering. Next step is to make 3 new engine mounts.

Finally got some time today to get back on the conversion.

Got the engine mounts just about finished up. Ran out of welding gas. Had to switch to flux core. So just tacked so it can be welded later.

Rear differential installed.

Here's a view of the rear mounted turbo and exhaust. Out of the car.

And got some more parts.

And thanks to Rob I picked this up yesterday.

dude, this is unreal...haven't kept track of your updates lately...but holy shit balls! can you get more detailed pics of how the rear-end is mounted, and also the control arms?

We have a guy on EvoM doing the same thing with the lancer, but there's nothing sturdy back there to mount the rear diff.

Thank you.

The lancer is different beast. This is just an endeavor rear subframe. They bolt directly into the eclipse as they share the same platform. Even the suspension arms are similar. I did however modify the camber arm to suit my purposes.

I would think the lancer would need an evo or 09+ ralliart rear subframe.

I have a ralliart in my driveway I can take pictures of if that helps.

the fwd lancer has no provisions for a rear subframe...

also are you still using fastworks to tune this beast?

Yes I'm still using fastworks. I wont be using anything else. As to make more power I need speed density. And Michael has been working on that for a few months now. A few of the supercharged guys are running S.D.

464whp was my limit because I maxed out the MAF sensor in the 3.5" MAF pipe. The car has the ability to make much more. Once this barrier is removed.

Right on. The MAF sensor was my next question thanks...I think I maxed out either my MAF or my injectors...I haven't logged since replacing my stock fuel pump with a 255...I'm also waiting for SD. I'm trying to get a hold of some larger injectors...and I also have a meth/water injection kit i'll be installing. I'm still running a completely stock motor, so I won't be able to put up impressive numbers like this, and AWD conversion would be far too costly to the point that it would be cheaper to buy an Evo. I really like what you're accomplishing with this car, and you must come to shannonville for a mix and match, so I can ride shotgun in that thing...whatever it is

hit me up sometime if you want to split dyno fees...I haven't been on the rollers since running 6.5psi (now 14psi)

This might have been answered earlier in the thread, how much power&torque are you pushing? Also, what is the model of your MAF?

Mine? it's the OEM MAF for the 4G69 in a 2.5" housing...car made 216whp/209wtq @ 6.5psi on a TD05H Big 16g.

I'm running a 3.5" MAF pipe from treadstone performance. With the stock MAF sensor.
464whp and 440tq at 12.6lbs. I would like to get to 18-20lbs if I can.

Nice numbers cranswick. I bet your close to 300 at 14lbs.

I'll be hitting up the dyno again in the spring. Not sure if it will be in Quebec or near my house again.

I'm good with either if you want to split and hour or two...I guess we wouldn't get as many pulls...but I really just need one or two...just to see where I'm at...I calculated conservatively 280whp, but I'm definitely curious...I should maybe look at a 3" intake in the meantime...I'm also ever so slightly running out of fuel at high rpm (above 6800-ish), but I think I might drop the rev limit to 6750 or so, run the water/meth injection, and try to get more ignition advance with my current fuel system.

Either way I'll be on the dyno for a few hours. Last dyno cession lasted about 5 hours. I expect the next one to be the same. But hopefully not. As most of the issues are sorted now.

Damn you move fast. What injectors are you running/going to run? Have you done cams and springs yet?

Fast? I feel like I'm being lazy. But thank you.

I'm currently running 720cc cheap injectors. They have been in the car for almost 2 years now. I want to get myself a good set soon. Looking at about 900cc's.

I have not done cams. But that might happen one day. I have done valve springs. There from a ford 3 valve engine. Mustang I think. I'm running about 60lbs seat pressure.

This looks like a great build so far and you've done some awesome work.

I'm trying to visualize in my mind the functionality of the spacer plate you made for the transmission input shaft at the throw out bearing. I understand the need for the adaptor plate, which would increase the distance from the input shaft to the flywheel/engine, so wouldn't the other spacer plate increase this distance even further causing a gap; or is it because the evo input shaft is longer than the original 6g tranny shaft?

Hope you understand my question, since I am researching this project as well.

Thanks!

i think it's to extend the sleeve/shroud around the input shaft, which is what the clutch release bearing travels on, so if left as is, the TOB would "fall of it's track" and could potentially bind or fail to retract...that's how i see it...

The sleeve has been removed. The TOB on the evo is actuated through a linkage. So there is more room for that movement. I'm using the eclipse TOB. Its an all in one hydraulic unit. And takes up much less space.

The Evo is also a pull style TOB. The eclipse is a push style.

Nor does the eclipse TOB bolt to the evo transmission.

So this plate is multi purpose. It spaces the TOB to the correct location. And Creates a place to mount the TOB to.

ah yes, I see it now...the f5m42 uses a push type as well, but with a fork...so opposite of the Evo (makes for tricky turbo fitment cause the slave is mounted the other way around)...it's too bad you couldn't make an Evo flywheel/clutch system, there are some pretty bad ass clutches for that platform...also if the slave fails, it won't piss brake fluid all over the clutch (also easier to replace), which happened in my 2003 lancer ES.

It is sad that an evo clutch wont work. But There have been come cool clutches made for our car but there one offs. Take a look at Twilson's build. But its was expensive to have made. I'm ok with the stage 3+ that's in my car. As I would rather burn and slip the clutch than destroy the transmission. Maybe after the transmission is built I'll do a crazy clutch. Kind of like a programmed weak point. Clutches are cheaper than transmissions.

I think twilson will be ok as I think the eclipse GT 6 speed is far more stout than the evo transmissions.

An evo clutch was done in Neo's build. But it required a one of a kind custom machined clutch.

Kind of like a programmed weak point. Clutches are cheaper than transmissions.

I think twilson will be ok as I think the eclipse GT 6 speed is far more stout than the evo transmissions.

yeah, too bad spec doesn't make a stage 4 and 5 for the GT, cause you at the torque capacity right now...for some weird fucking reason they are available for the 4G69/F5M42 combo...i.e. my car, and also the 4g GS... I run the ACT MR1-HDG6 which is good for 335ft-lb, I don't think I'm there yet, so I like that there's headroom...with the custom axles, i have a spare tranny is on stand-by

If you haven't already thought of this, you should think about a evo shield for the bellhousing. They're great for protecting you and the rest of the car incase of a frag in the transmission/clutch assembly. Someone from the dsmtuners community had a flywheel frag 500 miles into their freshly built engine. It nearly killed him and totalled his car.

Would be a good investment.

I have looked into them. Was looking at some last night. I don't like the ones I found. I'll most likely build my own. As usual. LOL.

Almost ready to go back in. Just need to finish up some exhaust work.

These two studs need to be cut off to fit the Transfer case. There just for the exhaust bracket that I haven't used since the headers anyway.

Holy crap man nice fitment. Was under my car looking at possible setups for underneath and im tellin ay there isnt much room below. The photos make it look like its touching but is there any worry of tranny + exhaust vibration while driving and have you come up with anything to eliminate any possibilities?

I'm not worried about anything moving. My engine is almost solid mounted. And I'm adding an additional solid engine link. It is a tight fit. If somehow it does hit the transmission I'm sure I wont hear it over all the other noise. LOL.
