Looks like the last Eclipse will not be going out w/ a bang. Was hoping they'd do one last AWD or something close to the '05 Ralliart Concept. Um, not even close. Mitsu's clearly closing up shop on the Eclipse. I can't post the url, (I'm too new apparently) but check out Road&Track's review on the NY Auto Show. They feature the 2012 Eclipse SE, the last Eclipse will only be available as automatic, 4 cyl.

this must be a mistake as there no way this ad for a 2012 eclipse is real at my local dealership, it says 2012 eclipse AWD GT with 4doors and a 4cyl engine for $33.000, me heart stoped both on 4 doors and AWD lol

the ralli art was a GSX.. and single turbo4, or TT6 would be nice... but a TT6 wouldn't be an eclipse

Today was the last day for the Eclipse, Spyder and Endeavor. In one way I'm glad they're gone but in other ways it's sad seeing the first model and now the last one.

I worked at Mitsu USA Corp HQ here in Orange County from 07-09. Even then the Eclipse/Galant/Endeavor sales were slow and falling. Then the Great Recession hit end of 08 early 09, and sealed the fate. Mitsu had a major layoff that I was a part of. Mitsu was on life support, and is just now starting to crawl out of the deep hole.

We all see the major changes that are happening in the world economy and auto world. Smaller cars, smaller engines, electrics, hybrids, etc. We are witnessing historical changes. Mitsu will also be ceasing production of the Evo but may come back with a hybrid Evo.

Mitsubishi's new global focus is electrics and hybrids. Many new models coming out--the i-Miev is one. So we Eclipse owners are a rare bunch here to continue supporting and promoting 23 years of an automotive legacy!

I must admit I'm a little disapointed. I have my 09 auto eclise and my 08 eclipse stick. I dont thing ill be spending money on modding anymore. The only thing i plan to is leather interior, tints and trying to keep them as nice looking as possible. This was my first experience with mitsubishi. Regarsless its flaws I love the style of the 4g. i MIGHT GET RID OF THE 08 BUT I will keep the 09. its sad to see that a lot of you are giving up already.

Lets keep our pride and be fortunate we got to own the last Eclipse that will ever me made...........This is coming froma newbie!

Im not embarassed to say I OWN the eclipse. After being a honda freak (08 civic ex-l and 08 crv) i still seet the eclipse as my sports car> Not that I was going to get the 5th gen if it came out; but I am proud to be part of the family<<<<<<

FWIW, an AWD 4G/5G was NOT that far off to build. Considering the awkward front biased weight distribution on the 4G, rear-end components would have easily made it a decent, or close to perfect split. Mitsu had the right components, IMHO. A kickass 5-speed AWD drivetrain that could handle the punishment, albeit older tech i still would have done marvelously. That, and a decent active differential technology to boot. Either way, it could have been done. And moving on, I've wasted so much time singing the praises of the '75M that it really should be common knowledge by now - save for anything green, the last of the cast-iron cyclones will forever be known as the greatest of all Mitsu engines. Again, too bad people will be realizing this while conducting junk yard scavenger hunts.

Quite a let down that MMNA didn't have the good sense to go back to roots when it counted - both from a bottom line and image perspective. Again, what they needed was already right under their noses. And I do believe it would have sold. And quite a bit.

Now all one can do is pay homage and, at this person's own accord, do what MMNA could have easily done, but instead failed at, and quite disappointingly.

I honestly the concept eclipse with the 4g body style looks stupid as hell. The hood and truck open up to the side and the rims are 20" the put the old 4g front back on it and its a hybrid, but it has a 3.8L with 270 hp. So I don't know if they are officially done with the eclipse.

GDI and Mivec with high compression will do great for emissions AND performance. A bunch of other things could been done but I guess the wrong people working in Marketing, etc.

I'm sure it'll hold it's own for a while... mine's an '08, and I still get compliments / head turns on a weekly basis.... and it's not even fully modded
