Brightred is on a distinguished road
Look lets not all jump to conclusions. This is just one article with information from "quote'" "a Mitsubishi source" anything can happen from now to 2013. Car manufacturers have made 360 degree turns before. I would not hold too much credence on this one article from some source. We just have to wait a little longer for a definite decision. Unfortunately below is a more convincing link.

maybe in like 5 years, Mitsu will go oh shit, we are missing out on a huge chunk of the market, and go back and do a retro gsx, similar to the 4g, but with 2g weight and 3g affordability

I agree. If the RA ever comes out it'll be probably detuned alot. It also won't have the awesome doors on it either. The interior will probably be cheaped out as well to keep costs down.

no future? do you not walk with your eyes open during the day? alternate energy is the future. in 20 years you will be lucky to find gas powered cars. there is no doubt about it.

I beg to differ... America makes alot of money from gas they even kick ppls ass for it ..... there are way too many big shot companies and investors involved in gasoline ...that shits not gonna stop .....companies might offer alternatives but they will still make vehicles that are gas powered.

conspiracy time.
you know what ethanol does to engines? it destroys them. if you work with small engines you know that first hand. it sucks moisture out of the air and water collects in your tank. that along with "93 octane" not testing at 93 octane anymore. our engines are fucked unless we use an additive that'll cost us about $10 a month. and apparently they just passed a raise in the ethanol from 10% to 15%. its getting worse.
small engine companies have talked about completely dropping warranties because they cant cover what the gas does to them.

so. picture this not too distant and already planned out future. gas goes to shit and starts ruining engines. car manufactures start pumping out electric cars. what are you doing to do?

ok, its not THAT bad.. lol like seriously... and i don't know where you buy your 93 octane from but the shit we have on base tests in the 93-94 range... they did this huge survey because some bases were having probs with cheap gas.. but the premium was always golden

i know it isnt as bad as i made it seem. but thats whats happening. conspiracy or not.
and it all depends on where you get your gas here(NY state). we've got sunoco, mobil, hess, fast track, valero.. honestly not sure if im spelling all of those the right way. but its obvious when you go different places that some are better than others. Hess is cheep but it goes away fast and the throttle response seems lacking..

Ehh... the way I see it, be happy you have the 4G. Sure it's a heffer. But it's got one of the smoothest FWD 6/MTs you'll find out there, and not to mention the fact that it's as close as you'll get to a DSG without having to give up the stick.

And if you still don't understand what a gold mine the '75-M is, you don't deserve a GT. Or, I'll be nice, it's just another daily driver to you - in which case, just give someone who does understand and appreciate your engine, and be done with it

For those who think investing in a 4G is nuts at this point, consider this - you may never find another engine this capable, nor a chassis more sturdy, in a Mitsu coupe for a LONG time. And not to mention, there won't be a "newer" model to be worried about in the next year, to make yours obsolete.

FWIW... just another person who knows to value certain things most people in this forum don't. Things like steel flywheels, big displacement, traction and braking before power, and standalone engine management systems.

l o l . . .
it's sounds so convincing till you mention big displacement... sure 3.8l is getting there, but not quite big... heheheh sup Slippy!!

but seriously... dude is right... I really liked driving the GT when i had one as a rental, was way to much fun... it's why i still consider getting a 4g from time to time

Wait till you can find a good one for 5-8k and completely gut it out. No AC , no rear seats, nothing you don't need. Then build the motor up to a nice 300whp, or maybe more, and you would have a little rocket on your hands. If there was a way to hit sub 3k lbs on this thing it would kill!

If only it was RWD, or mid engine... lol

If only it was RWD, or mid engine... lol
im sure there is a way to hit sub 3k lbs... i mean, shit, the eclipse has tons of extra shit

You're right - 3.8L isn't much, if you're comparing to big block V8s. But note, as with all engines, it's not just the block that determines output.

Theoretical max on N/A 3.8Ls are plenty to exceed 500chp, if the heads and ECU were capable of flowing to that potential. Which, btw, these heads come close

Oh what time and money can't buy.

Ahh Kennan... can't gut a beast without chucking metal.

Car talk aside, how're you guys doing?

Haha... dude, I wasn't lashing out at ya

Of all people you know what I'm talking about.

In fact, totally OT, I've been having wet dreams about getting an FTO chassis through the border, since I'm in Canada

Imagine an FTO frame, CT9A Evo drivetrain, 4G63-T

I still maintain, I don't know, and it saddens me to think, that there may never be another better Mitsu 6-cyl than the 6G75-M

If these three models are out of production what Mitsubishi is thinking they are going to sell? I can tell them right away that people in US wont buy little iMev Electric thing infact there will be probably a joke like it is only good for Golf.

If they are going to put electric motor in body of Eclipse Car and have bad ass performance i am for it otherwise fuck that shit...

I'd buy the iMiev, if it was released in North America as the Sport version. Whatever that means

If you've got badass cars to drive on the weekend, why would you need to drive a badass car during the week?

To get dings and dents and fear break-ins and spills from the wife and kids because you don't have a reliable DD that you won't have to worry about keeping fresh and clean all the time?

... Makes sense if you can afford to be practical, that is

Good point, but I've always been under the thinking of if you have an awesome car, why only drive it on the weekends in nice weather? Drive it till the wheels fall off. At least you got your enjoyment out of it.

I would say this article is generally proving you wrong and telling you to STFU.
