its not surprising mitsu has very low sales in this country and others, they are known basically for the evo. the article says exactly why they are doing it, to make ev and hybrids to try and increase their sales.

mitsu's sales have gone down in north america every year since 2002. in 09 they didnt even sell 54000 cars in the U.S.

Unfortunately, this may bring Evo resale values up or at least hold steady whereas the 3 and 4g's suck as is...

ofcourse that is true. the evo x will now become a collectors item, as would any other evo that would have became last, its just the product name that has become so synonomous with performance. but as DMS's knew firsthand before their fame was boosted by hollywood, its the user of the 4g that knows its full potential.

Could make the platforms better. Do the new evos even come in manual? Or just sport mode.
The eclipse could of been done way better. The mivec v6 is beast but throw awd in it and lighten the load a bit?

in reality thats ALL the 4g needed. not even a turbo, not even an AWD for that matter. i bet the if the 4g just had RWD it would have been TONS more successfull. it would have been right up there sales wise with the evo, and ofcourse a couple hundred pounds less wouldnt have hurted

i know searching wouldnt have helped much with this. but we've been talking about this for the last few weeks in a different thread.
mitsu is making a lot of big changes.
and the more you think about it. the more you realize it may be a smart move. by dropping the eclipse, galant, and endeavor, they drop the 6g75. only v6 left would be the 3 liter mivec in the outlander. which puts out the same hp as the non mivec 6g75.
and ooooooh no. they're dropping the evo name at a time when very few are happy with what its become.
just because they drop the names of these cars. does not mean they're done making sport coupes or sport sedans. if they can make an electric hybrid with the same performance as a 2 liter turbo, which they can. they better well do it.
gas prices are and will continue to go up. ethanol will continue fucking up engines. the US will continue not drilling for the oil that we have in our own country. so electric and/or fuel efficient is the way to go. and thats what mitsu is doing by planning to release 5 or so new models within the next few years.

nope... if you notice, aside from Honda, there are very FEW FWD cars that have tons of support... the problem i see is that we are limited by the fact that the eclipse is fwd..

exactly man, that is why i stated how the eclipse would have been hella successfull being RWD. granted it takes away from its history, but nowadays its what people want. the 6g75 would have performed heavenly on a RWD platform, people would have enjoyed it. and shit, it would have been awesome to drift in the eclipse

And personally I don't think any of these cars are going to raise in resale value unless their in perfect condition, because they weren't even that sought after when they could be bought.
Mitsu see's the market changing, every company is pushing for hybrids and less fuel consuming cars and since they have already been sucking at selling cars, they are trying to jump on that bandwagon before it takes off and they lose their chance.
Especially in North America right now with rising gas prices again more people will be looking for hybrids and such. I've been hearing gas is supposed to be back up to $5 a gallon -.-

And personally I don't think any of these cars are going to raise in resale value unless their in perfect condition, because they weren't even that sought after when they could be bought. Mitsu see's the market changing, every company is pushing for hybrids and less fuel consuming cars and since they have already been sucking at selling cars, they are trying to jump on that bandwagon before it takes off and they lose their chance. Especially in North America right now with rising gas prices again more people will be looking for hybrids and such. I've been hearing gas is supposed to be back up to $5 a gallon -.- __________________ I bought a stereo because the damn factory one busted, got a sub, and slapped a flowmaster back there.
