Is the Evo really dead, because I swear in the other thread they said they are making a new Evo. Im so confused

its all rumors i think i know a guy who knows a guy who supposedly works for mitsubishi research and development and he said they signed a contract to keep making evos till 2015, the guy is a senior member in 3g forums his name is tank.

Yeah its super sketch, because after this is payed off I really plan on looking into an Evo as a second vehicle if I dont blow this one up in the process.

well supposedly due to backlash about stopping evo production they will continue on making them for about 2 more years and they might take the evo in another direction, diesel hybrid has been the rumors for a few years.

First the Eclipse now the Evo? Creeps. Mitsu you are hanging yourself big time here. All electric cars are not anymore environmentally friendly. All those nuclear, coal fired, oil fired, and hydro electric plants create massive environmental impacts. e=mc^2 morons. Image every consumer with their car plugged in over night. Seriously. WTF.

If you really wanted to do something Mitsu, Toyota, Honda, and Subu you would put hydrogen powered cars on the market full force and force carbon off the market entirely. Electric powered is not better. Wind mills contribute .5% of NA power. Village idiot lip service...

The Evo X is more of a toned down Evo than a built up car.

That and I've heard some nasty shit about the "flappy paddle" transmission not holding power and needing constant trans flushes...

If I want an evo, I would LOVE to buy a brand new one since my next car is prolly going to be brand new since im getting older and establishing good credit (which takes forever!) but I dont want these new evo's so idk. I'm happy with my car though i'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Ummm... no.

In so many respects the X has much more to offer the enthusiast than the IX and earlier models. You guys just need to do more research on it.

For those who are more concerned with lap times and control over the turns with reliable shifts, the MR is more than ample to handle the task. And if you prefer the tactile feel of a stick, the 5/MT in the X GSR is far better and more reliable than that in the IX - ACD and beefier internals, plus stronger transfer case to boot.

For what it's worth, we took my buddy's GT-R out for a spin yesterday. Was not in the least bit impressed. It feels too much like a Z with all four spinning - it felt maxed out, and the shifting is too sluggish. The optimum powerband felt too narrow and with auto downshifts to the wrong revs, and turbo lag upon acceleration, it felt crude and unintelligent. For much less I'd get the X... if I weren't so fixated on bigger displacement and the '75M's raw capabilities.

How can you say those things about the Gt-R I used to ride and drive in my friends all the time I still have a few vids floating around YouTube. The shifting is dead on and super fast, but I can see what you're saying about maxed out but I fucking loved how it was more responsive and overall the best car I have ever driven. Turbo lag, crude and unintelligent are words that don't belong in the same sentance as that car. To each his own though, I will take into consideration what you said you about the evo though.

I didn't say the evo X was bad, I have now driven 2 of them. and I have also driven a GTR, and to say it feels like a z.. it really makes me wonder how much experience you really have... because they are not even close...
maybe all you did was street driving.. the GTR.. its very techie and is very "safe"... I couldn't get it to lose grip around the track...

I was pushin it pretty hard..

These types of story makes me sad, Why kill off your fucking benchmarks, its like Ford Killing off the Mustang, I will bet that within a few years, they will remake the eclipse or the Evo. But they could be idiots and do away with it the same as the 3000GT, god what I would give for that car.

I never said ford was killing mustang, stated a comparison of how stupid it would be if ford killed off their champ. If you ask someone to mention a Mitsubishi car, the first car they mention is either the Evo or the Eclipse.
