which should I buy?

I am an avid Eclipse lover - basically by the sexy appearance really. I have now found 2 of them and just cannot, for the life of me, decide on which to purchase. Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated!! It will be a purchase for both my hubby and myself but I will be driving it most of the time (he has a truck).

Here are my options:

#1: 2006 GS with only 5000km (3000 miles). It is the orange colored one (love it!). Sunroof with the upgraded stereo package - no leather. Automatic with the manual shifter option. $19,999 (canadian)

#2: 2007 GT with only 4000Km (2500 miles). It is silver, leather, keyless entry, upgrade stereo and automatic. $24,000 (canadian).

Both beautiful cars but the silver one does not stand out as nice (in my opinion as the orange.
I like the orange one in color and of course in price. My husband is afraid he will regret buying the GS and not the GT, but there is a $4000 price difference. I don't mind the 4 cylinder at all but what do you all think????

I thought of that but I'm just kind of afraid with the warmer weather coming, it is unlikely that I will find the good deals I have found with the low, low mileage.

Is the GT a better choice, in your opinion? If it is worth the $4G more, then maybe I should get the silver one. It isn't like I am against silver, just that the orange is so vibrant - to me that is.

Have you driven both and if so, is there a big difference?

I would be all over a 4cyl.. Potentially better gas mileage, or potentially a turbo beast

Thanks Russ, do you have an orange one? Your profile pic looks like that. If so, is it a GS or GT?

i agree with russ on this one. the gs will give you better gas milage as well as the color option that you want and if you want to add some power to it via a turbo or supercharger you can. the only bad thing i can say about the gs is, if you dont F/I it, even with all the other aftermarket goodies available for it, you still wont come close to a mildly modded gt's acceleration. Choose your path wisely

I'd get the GT. The GS do have the potential to be a beast but the fact remains after you put all that money into it. It'll only be as fast as a stock GT.

Not totally true, a turboed gs that puts out the same power as a gt has the "potential" to be faster than the gt due to weight and gearing. However, by the time you get that power out of the gs you could have just spent the money on a gt.

For me i would go for the GT, you have the punch in it that the GS can only have by being modded. If your husband think he will regret it, just do a try out.

Go with the GS and the GT, you will know by then what to do. That's what i did and i can tell you that even being an automatic, the punchs there. If your not into performance, go for the GS. You'll save buck for some nice exterior modifications.

That was my opinion, take it as you please. Hope my input helped.

does the GT have a sunroof? I get comments on the sunset pearlescent all the time, people think it's a custom paint job and I have a GS and I still beat most cars on the road. If your getting it because you like the look then for sure the GS, if you want a performance machine, you get the Lancer Evo.

GS if you want something that you can mod and work on. A lot more support for that platform as of now. If you just want a nice car that is fast with little or no work, get the GT. It's all about what you want to do with it.

so it comes down to Gs for gas, but if you turbo it there goes that idea.. or just get the Gt and keep it as it is and just enjoy the car. depends if you speed or just looks really.

The difference in gas miles is barely even significant. But that always has made me wonder why the Pontiac Grand Prix has a 200 hp V6 and gets the same gas mileage as my I4... But back to the point. The key less entry and leather seats and extra 95 hp vs the color and smoother drive (from my experiences). It's your choice.
