Car won't start.

Im new to the forums all though I have been looking for some time through them. Anyway I have a 06 GT automatic, as i was driving home from work today the car engine shutoff

It cranks but wont start.

I cant read codes through my scanner as it says unable to link.

I checked all the engine related fuses and transmission fuse and they seem fine

the day before i had rewired two 02 sensors that the previous owner wired to the wrong socket so im not sure if that might be the source, but the car worked fine rifht after doing that.

Im at a loss here. I rechecked all the wiring around any area I could of messed up and cant find anything.

Try the long ecu reset

1. Disconnect battery. Press on the brake pedal, try rolling the windows up, just make sure there is no static in the system. Letting it sit for 15 min is a good way too.
2. When done reconnect Positive then negative lead
3. Turn key to ON position (not start) for at least two minutes, You will hear clicking noises under the hood
4. Turn key off for ten seconds
5. Turn the car on and let it idle for at least ten minutes, it will feel a bit rough for awhile but will smooth out
6. turn key off again for ten seconds,
7. turn on and take for a test drive, be easy on the engine for the first 30 miles or so, nothing over 3500rpm.

Hopefully this works for you, else I'd be thinking a short may have happened somewhere to the ecu

Any ECU problems and the dealership will say it's fried and you need a new one. 3 week wait, and about 800 USD for the part.

ended up towing it to a shop, found out that the ecu fuse was blown, but the new fuse blew as well as soon as they cranked it. They disconnected the ecu and put another fuse, no blown fuse, connected back ecu and car started right up. They couldnt figure out the source of the problem so i drove the car home.

I got a little paranoid and started checking the car myself when i got home. I remmeber the car still had an amp in the back for a subwoofer, so i removed that and found no sign of a short.

Then I remmember seeing that botchy wiring job of the O2 sensors, I jacked the car up and found that one of the cables for the downstream 02 sensors had melted onto the headers. I have a feeling that this is the source of that short. I had asked the shop to look the sensors when they had it at the shop but was told that they are on a separate circuit.

I remmeber seeing a post somewhere on 3g forums about these heater 02 sensors can potentially draw amps, enough to blow a fuse.

Hopefully that was the issue afterall. Bought me a kit of spare fuses just in case, kind of afraid of driving this thing.
