Bumper destroyed

Hi all,
So some kid in a lancer skid and drove over 2 lawns and into my bumper. Anyhow so i have an opportunity to get my bumper done, any recommendations on the color that would go nice with black and that wont be as weak as OEM stuff that keeps chipping off.

Thanks,
Abhi

you could go with a chrome teal color that would be cool, https://www.carid.com/2007-mitsubish...pse-body-kits/

Dang abhi! That sucks. Hopefully the Lancer kid has good insurance. Personally I'm not a fan of cars with one mismatched panel (reminds me of when people get a door/fender/bumper smashed and just install a junkyard part that's the wrong color). So I'd stick with Kalapana Black, but it's your ride. Regardless of color, whether of not it chips is going to depend on the quality of the paint and how well it's applied. So do some checking around locally and see which body shops people recommend. Finally, if paint chipping is really a concern and you want to keep the new bumper looking sharp, you might want to get a 3M Clear Bra applied to just the bumper.

3M is a good idea. What is the thought on matt black or carbon fiber finish?

I have to agree with Jim here. Mismatched parts looks weird, so I'd keep it kalapa black. Its all about accenting, such as making the center bar a different color.

Dah...sorry to see this man

x10 on don't mismatch the entire front bumper. I think redoing the entire thing Kalapana black and then putting matte black center would look sharp!

Also if you don't mind getting new fogs as well, this is the perfect opportunity for an 09+ front bumper

+1 of the '09 bumper. It's sharp as a knife.

Going to try and get matt black center bar and '09 bumper. Other than fog lights am i looking at any additional expenses?
How much do those normally cost?

Thanks,
Abhi

Depends on where you get it done. Get some estimates at your local body shops. The bumper is relatively cheap. The labor and paint are the big expenses. My last new bumper install was around $600 out the door.

The estimate just to get bumper replaced is $1300. Its mad expensive here in Alberta, canada. The '09 bumper fits on '07 right?

Yes it does. You may be better off ordering the part and getting it painted, then install it yourself. It's not hard to do, and a good learning experience.

Just don't do it in the -30 weather

The lancer kids insurance is gonna pay for it why would i want to do it myself. I would just have to pay the extras and differences between '07 and 09 bumper plus the plastidip matt black and potentially fog lights.

I'd highly recommend that you go ahead and have the body shop paint the section that you want plastidipped. It isn't that much more expensive and it will last and look much better than plastidip!

He means Matte. Which are just colors that have little to no shine. Since plasti dip has a matte finish.

Correct. Kalapana Black bumper (your stock color) and a generic matte black paint for the center.

I would assume 09 bumper would be more expensive than 07. I dont get your point.

Do you have to take it to the dealership? In the US, auto insurance gives you the right to take it to any reputable body shop to do the repairs (at least in Kentucky...assuming most/all states). Dealership will want to replace it with the 2007 bumper because it's a 2007 car. A body shop will do what you tell them to.

I am taking it to carstar collision center. But they buy it from dealership it seems. ANyhow i called the dealership myself this morning and guess what? they say there is no reason it would not fit. I do not know what is going on and who to trust.
