TCL/Traction Issues

Guys,

The past two days now I've had my traction control popping on me during normal driving for no reason.

I'll be braking and the TCL OFF light will appear with the swerving car light. They will both light up.

I'll shut the car off. Turn it back on and it is gone...and ideas?

One thing I believe someone told me about a year ago when my car did that for a few days was the Brake fluid was too high. That or it was really close and when you drove the car hard it would trip a sensor or something in the reservoir.

Too high? I did my brakes a few weeks ago and it is just starting to do that? You sure?

I'm just driving it normally when the light has come on...started yesterday. Did it twice to me today already.

I just went out there and checked it. That can't be it.

Plug in a scan tool. Sometimes throwing a code will cause that to happen.

Only thing I've changed since the bottle is the 02 Spacer. I'll try pulling them out tonight when I get home. Bout done with work.

I'm also gonna double check my brake fluid when I get in. Thing is when I had to completely full, I wasn't throwing the TCL.

Something similar happened to me.. now I'm not sure if it'll be the same thing, but I would drive my car for about 5 minutes, and then the traction control and the swerving car came on at the same time. Then I would have to kill the engine, and start it again for it to go away for another 5-10 minutes.

I checked all my fuses because also my AC lights weren't comming on either, and I came to find out that my passenger brake light, and the front signal light (passenger side as well) wasn't turning on due to a faulty ground connection, and a blown fuse.

check your fuse box since we have the sws on our cars and also all your brake/signal lights. Hope this helps

ptr149 has a spectacular aura about
What intake are you running? I have the AEM and when it was a CAI the same thing would happen to me, but when i changed it to SRI then it was fine. I know some other people have had the same problem with the AEM intake, but i think my problem was that the 2nd peice of the piping was beginning to bend a little bit.

Thank you gentlemen. I'm not sure which one of you is right...I sorta did all three and it turned it off. Been 3 days now without it. Thank you!

mine just did this today...anybody else had any problems...i was driving it a little hard but not as hard as i have before...shifting around 4 with like 3/4 throttle....downshifting as i slowed down to hear the hks a bit

just happened on the way to a friends...cut the car off and back on and it was gone...haven't driven it again yet

my assumtion is my tires are about due to be swapped (still running the stockers) and i was braking hard and it tripped the sensor? guess we'll see over the next couple days

ok bump to top...mine just started doing this again today and i wasnt driving hard at all...also vader recently had this problem too...resetting his ECU has worked so far but im not sure how long it's been

i never did anything and the light just stopped coming on for about 3 weeks...then all of a sudden it came on today...twice

mike suggested the colder air>intake>computer is confused with the denser higher air flow than normal but wouldnt the computer correct for this as it would with the stock intake? i reset my ecu when i first put the fujita on months ago but only recently started having this issue

going to call mitsu tomorrow for details on what could be causing it as well as take it by auto zone and see if its throwing any codes

here's a pic for clarification to anyone that doesnt know which lights we're talking about

Yes mine just started doing that again also. It was fine all summer, then winter rolls around, so I think that it does have something to do with the colder air.

When the light pops up on mine, I'm always reading a random misfire....

like i said earlier...im going to order a scan tool soon...dont have one...and it hasnt come on today so i havent gone by auto zone/advance for a scan

my guess is the cold air if its also happening to you again kennan...at least it goes away when you cut the car off and back on...if i had to unhook my battery every time that would be an ass pain

Also when mine when off it went off and on with the restarting of the car and then SES came on with all the yellow lights. Reset the ECU like Cody said and now i'm running fine since then (like a week). So I was throwing a code but idk what.

called the mitsu service department and they said it could be a number of things and wasnt very specific...everybody should call their local mitsu and see if they may have had somebody else come in for it and what it was

It seems like the problem is more then just a few eclipse here and there, I have had quite a few people tell me theirs are doing the same thing. So we need to get together and talk to a rep of Mitsu to get anything done. I doubt if we went to the dealer they would do anything but tell us that they haven't heard anything about it.

I would find out the number to the the normal IL plant and ask for a rep, that would be the first place I would start.

I have an intake, so IDK if everyone else does or not.

I got these lights when I put a new cold air intake in awhile back.
Air-to-Fuel ratio readings were off, but didn't get a CEL. Just these.

My guess is that you'll have to find out about SEVERAL things that may cause these lights to turn on.

Well mine all came on AGAIN, so i shut the car off and back on and what still stays the SES light. It's just my luck, so looks like I'm the guinea pig that is going to autozone friday to get my car scanned and tell all you nice folks what the issue it.

If you guys look through the service manual, there's about a thousand things that will turn that light on...it comes on with many different CEL codes, it can come on by itself even without a CEL. It's done it to me many times in the carwash...

Talking to a mitsu rep will get you nowhere with this one...because everyone's light could be on for different reasons. If you don't get a code when reading with a scantool, you'll have to take it to the dealer to hook up with an MUT-III factory scan tool.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but it really can be a huge number of things...
