So i bought my car about a month ago and 2 weeks ago my service engine light came on when I was going to leave for work one night. I got it checked and it is OBD2 code P0037.
Definition:
Cylinder 1-4 heated oxygen sensor (rear) heater control circuit low.
Probable Cause
Open or short circuit condition
Poor electrical connection
Faulty H02S heated oxygen sensor.
If anyone knows any way to fix this let me know bc if i am ever going to mod this car I want to always have it right to where this light isnt on. Thanks in advance for any help or knowledge spread my way.
I have a question, since the sensor i found is 104 bucks, can i not just take it out and leave it out? or should i just wait and go cat back exhaust with a tune
at the part store i see o2 sensors that say upstream/downstream for the front or back, i presume it is a back since it is the rear bank o2 sensor, but do i need upstream or downstream
Just leave it in. A cat back wont make a difference. If you take it out it would be like a terrible exhaust leak. If you search on here you will see our stock manifolds are notorious for failing. There was a recall for the 06's. 9 times out of 10 that was the problem. You can get the sensor tested before you spend money on a new one to make sure it is reading correctly. There are ways around buying new ones with spacers. Sometimes the work sometimes they don't.
Your specific code could also mean a fault in the wires or connection. Unhook the battery, clean the o2 connecters with electrical cleaner and clean the o2 sensor. See if that helps after you reset the ECU. If the code comes on again get it tested.
