GT vs S2000
Alright well the the long awaited race with my bud is over. He has a 2000 S2000 AS1 or AP1 that revs at 9K, he has the stock box mod and says he is putting down 205whp. So we get on the highway and take a 40 roll. I three honk it and we are off. It was great no one on the road all open space for atleast 5 miles. We went from 40 to about 120. I started in 2nd. Through second and third i had maybe a nose but were basiclly dead even. Then when i was in 4th and around 105 mph or so he started to pull about a 1/2 car then we shut down he had 1 car on me. Not to bad for a 3400 lb 220 whp car vs a 2800 lb 205whp car. We think if we go from a 5 roll i would have the car length on him but over 100 or so he gets the win. Now i am REALLY thinking of getting the Injen CAI. Cuz with him getting a test pipe and maybe a K&N intake he will be sitting pretty at 215whp so i would need the CAI so i can make the 235whp and be dead even with him. Also need the strut bar along with front and rear sway bars to be able to keep up with him in the back roads.

Yea those thinks are pretty quick but they really don't respond good to mods. Like a test pipe and intake adds maybe 10-15 whp. And headers are around 5-10 whp. Suckers are already pumping basiclly as much power as they can have w/o f/i. But yea i was happy with the race.

Damn i need a CAI....we will be even.
And yea when we ride with eachother u can feel it when i mash the pedal, but with the S u don't really feel anything until vtec but only then it's a little kick.

it just depends on the car/driver. The cars are a really close match stock for stock and no 2 cars a alike.
plus your boys mods could be hurting him... it happens a lot the the s2000.

I was refering to the S2000. The owner said that on his forum the cat-back does nothing and some said that it hurts hp gains. But i agree with tjf unless ur going f/i i wouldn't waste ur money on a cat-back for the eclipse. I my opinion there is no point in modding the exhaust only from the cat back seeing the cat is a restrictor of air. And also the piping to ur cat back is only 2.33 on a GT so going to 3 is pointless in my eyes.

There's a thread on here that a member did a baseline dyno, got 220whp, and put an axleback on and got 216whp. Certain things may not necessarily help the car.

A good friend of mine took his 01 S2k to the track last week and ran a 14.2. I would say it is beatable with a modded GT.

Roll races are for pussies that don't know how to drive their car........I only do a roll race after I pawn thee from a dead stop so we can see just how much less/more power one is making. |
