You can Autocross anything you well please. I tend to think the 4G could do very well in autocross. I have yet to see one come out in my local club.

I have seen it all from Vipers to Yugos to Malibus to CRXs. Its 90% driver and only 10% car. I tend to think that if your a great driver, you can win in any stock car out there.

Also what the hell is a serpentine? Do you mean slalom?

I'm still working on finding some tracks to race on around where I live. I only just learned of 1, but I don't know if it's even a AutoX/road course or just an oval. I'll have to go over and check it out.

I definately want to mess around on a track with my ride. I don't do it much (if at all) on public roads so I'm definately itching for some excitement.

JB4G... wouldn't SAR have a small road course? I know Houston Raceway Park has a built-in little slalom track there.

... oops... It's now turned into a mud pit for the derbies. They might still use the parking lot right next to the track for cone courses:

Yahoo! Maps, Driving Directions, and Traffic

yeah no raod course to my knowledge, and all the parking lots are dirt/gravel. I do not know of any road courses anywhere around here, I think Houston is still the closest

Autocross events are held once a month at the at&t center parking lot

You know the TAMU car club... or whatever they call themselves, have a regular auto-X meet every so often. I believe the next round is on the weekend of the 12th.

It's at the track by College Station. TX Auto Speedway, I think? I dunno... I forget.

Depending on how soon I decide to go get my "mudding tires" for the 4G (inside joke) I may be spending the rest of the stock rubber out on the pavement with them kiddos!

A Day at the Track

Heres some footage from my first day at the track. You can also see my friends sick ass supercharged 5.0, as he lays down at least one decent pass.

Note this was my first race at the track ever, and my first year of driving stick. Absolutely no traction, with the fronts dropped to 28psi. Car was stock with the exception of progress springs and fujita intake.

I apologize for the loss to the SRT4, but I had him at 60'!

Ahhh Congrats on getting broken in! So now you have a reason to make like an idiot out at the empty school parking lots on late weekday nights!

It does take a while to get used to properly quick-shifting a stick, and even more perfecting a launch, especially on stock tires. Thing is, rubber and suspension (including engine damping) do play a major role in getting those times up. And a lot of times it's based on your feel of the car. I believe you yourself spoke of rather having a rough ride and better traction than a soft cushy one that doesn't get any grip.

... so I guess I'm preaching to the choir then
