The Perfect/Mirror Shine and Finish

Well I just finished detailing my car and it came out better than I expected. Here is a raw pic, no flash, no photoshop.

And a farther view

The steps I took were:
- Wash (meguiars)
- Clay bar (meguiars)
- Meguiars Ultimate compound on a Meguiars Buffer (eliminates the possibility of f'n up your car like some traditional buffers)
- Meguairs Show Car glaze/polish
- Ice wax
..... and a new product I tried out

- Mothers Top Coat!!!!

What a difference that top coat made though for the final product. I hope that car cover is safe on the inside. Alot of covers have been known to add some micro scratches in the clearcoat which can be a pain in the ass to deal with, especially after all that hard work.

I won't hijack your thread with pix of my car, but I just did a first ever (me and "her") detail this weekend. I was a skeptic, but am now a firm believer- the Clay Bar is KEY!!!!! I didn't really think it was necessary- hey they used to have beautiful cars before the clay bar was invented, right? But wow- I can't believe how much grit those things remove- the surface was as smooth as a baby's bum after claying, and kinda gritty before- like it looked clean, but didn't feel it. My weapons of choice in order were:

Inside:
*303 vinyl cleaner
*Lexol Spray Leather Cleaner
*Lexol Spray Leather Conditioner
*Stoner Invisible Glass
*Mothers Protectant (yum- smells like cherries!)

Outside:
*RAGGTOPP Fabric Convertible Top Cleaner
*RAGGTOPP Fabric Convertible Top Protectant (3 coats)
*Meguiar's Gold Class Car wash
*Stoner Tarminator Bug/Tar Remover (the douchebag who owned the car before me obviously didn't love her). P.S. This shit WORKS!
*Another wash
*Mother's Clay Bar (more yum- the QD smells like cinnamon!)
*Klasse All-In-One (by hand)
*Klasse Sealant Glaze (also by hand), one coat so far

2 things I noticed- a) since my car is less than a year old, I'm not sure if the Klasse twins made it any more brilliant- it already looked pretty smokin' when clean, but it was well worth the protection it'll give me. And b) that Klasse SG is a bit of a bitch to buff- definitely don't let it dry, and don't put too much on at once!

The inside and the ragtop took me about 2 hours and the outside took about 5 hours (an hour of which was spent on the tar). Not as long as I thought it'd be, especially the claying and the All-In-One. The SG was a bit of a bitch, like I said and I was running out of steam and getting a sore back and arm

I actually found myself enjoying it somewhat, but am not really pining to do it again in the fall

I love that 2nd photo of yours- the car door looks like it's actually made of silver mirror. Do you think that's the effect of the Ice Wax, or because it's a black car? Did you hand polish/wax?

Nice job man

the polish i used (compound something from meguiars) was on a buffer, but the wax is hand. the buffer i use is the meguiars one so it doesn't mess up the paint if you leave it up in one spot for too long.

o ya that top coat from mothers makes a HUGE difference from the other details I have done before when I didn't use it. I recommend to anyone!
