I wouldn't trust any Houston shop to blow your car, save for if you really want to drop massive loads of cash and/or hope that you'll even be considered "time-worthy". There would be two: Hennesy and FastLane.

Note that the former only does domestics worthy of their own special brand name, and the latter also better calls domestics and Hondas their specialty.

Other than those two, I would think twice about having your car manhandled by any shop in Houston. I know I'd probably be called out for not trusting shops like SGP or Carboy, but trust me... if you need someone to work on your car for the FULL workup, you should know that Houston speed shops are more geared to specializing in Hondas and Nissans. Mitsus are best handled by shops in DFW.

Kenny Tran's shop is no different in terms of the hope and cash liquidity thing. Especially now that he's big time with all the project builds and sponsorships. Well, he's always been that way. Some say Alamo is a pretty good Mitsu shop, but really that's more if you have a DSM in the classic sense. No one really understands the V6s as much in TX. It's an understatement at best, with all the better engine builders lifting from the older line of sixes in the '72 SOHC and DOHC. Even a few shops in Cali that I've contacted are itching to have their hands on a '75M. It's very much something that sparks interest and intrigue in the "oh I've never done that before".

But I digress. We all should know how great this engine is... but if you didn't already know that I really don't know what to say

If you ask me, IMHO, trust agnostic engine builders for engine builds - I'd trust a domestic engine specialist over a "Honda guy". And a shop with the proper equipment. We've actually got a pretty good engine shop in Houston, but I forget the name - Fastlane should send you in the right direction.

Now as for tuning.... haha... that's the biggest misstep people make in choosing. I'd also stick with the DFW lot for that. There's one fella whose name continually pops up in my inquiries. But several do exist.

Good luck! And good luck finding a decent installer in Houston, if you really think you can risk it.
