The July meet will be held in Austin. We are working on the details to create a very organized weekend so please check this post for updates.

Thanks Matt - yeah, I didn't want to step in all thunder and hail, because you guys have done a wonderful job at taking the discussion this far. We just thought that if you need Jarred's and my help in setting the tone and helping with the planning, then we'd be more than glad to step up to the plate.

There's just been some precedent that we thought would add as much value to this meet as it has in the past. And based on the feedback I've gotten from the Dallas meet and just the feel of the forums of late, we thought that this meet might help steer things back in focus, especially as C4G TX is growing at an incremental rate

So just let us know either way. I do intend to have a conversation with Bobby anyway about other things, perhaps tomorrow, but for sure over the weekend. I'm sure we'll be discussing some of the ideas then.

As for my attendance? Let's just say I now have a vested stake in this meet

Heck! It's just as much my hometown too!

There's a place really close to both Bobby and I that has go-karts, mini-golf, laser tag, etc. called Austin's Park and Pizza. It's a pretty neat place, but very family-oriented. Also very moderately priced.

However, there's a Pro-Kart track close to the airport - Iron Rock Raceway. Note, though, that it's much pricier, and only has regulation speed go-karts and no other stuff. Website also says they're currently closed for relocation, with no reopening date.

That said, again this would be a good time to discuss the structure of the meet, because you have to consider that a weekend isn't long enough to do more than two major activities/trips in a day. And, as you all saw in the Dallas meet, the logistics of moving people is an art form, and requires careful organization. That's why it's usually best to keep it simple and have one general activity per day.

And since Saturday is the only real full day, there's not much time to spend between places.

Last year's Austin meet was a relative success. It accomplished its goals of getting people together, while also incorporating several activities spread out over several days:

Friday: "See the town / night life" - stroll through Austin downtown
Saturday: "Austin Outdoors" - Lunch, drive, and set up camp at Lake Travis. Evening barbecue and boozefest by the campfire.
Sunday: Hang out and sober up. Brunch and head home.

There were several groups of people, some groups even from out of town, that came by for even a little while (meet date was concurrent with HIN, so it was a bonus). But the point was, despite all the activity during the daytime, everyone who camped out or stayed long enough through the night will tell you that was the best part of the meet... not the driving around trying to do all sorts of "filler-up" meet stuff. And it was those who stayed that, from what I hear, had the most fun out of all who attended. Most of the long-lasting stories came from conversations, behaviors, songs, and other strange things that happened around the campfire and under the stars.

We're blessed to have been offered the opportunity of having a house for this year's Austin meet. That's a huge opportunity. But just think that if we try to do too many things with such a short span of time, it'll be more chaos and less quality time spent getting to know each other and making those connections that make C3G/C4G TX meets so great.

today is saturday im gona be driving around most of the day since its my day off.. hopefully got my car problem fixed and wont run into any snags... none the less im gona do some reconnaissance (big word!) and scope out some nice spots for shoots.. its a nice windy day off for me, but im gona try my best to use it productively and wisely...as for places to visit for all of us to have fun there is also "mainevent"... its got arcades/indoor mini-golf/bowling/pool/poker/bar/lots of food...check it out

It looks pretty fun Volente Beach Waterpark

Only problem with this though, we wold have to keep bobby on a leash with all the chachies in bikini's running around.

Also, i looked at their package deals. If we actually get 25 people to come to this, it would cost 16 bucks each for the pizza package, which is all day admission, pizza, and drinks and parking.

1) yes its the 24th now, sorry for the change.

2: Bobby has us a big house, all you have to do is chip in a few bucks i believe, alot cheaper than a hotel.

not really any hotels nearby that area .. i would have to say the closest would have to be in round rock area.. mainly the louis henna exit from ih 35 north bound.. kinda the area where lawrence used to live at

bob, remember ill be crashing at the house unless i have someone coming with me. if i do ill stay at the same hotel as the other people. Can we get information up as to what and where this hotel is?
