remote car starter

i have one on my 08 spyder and its worked great for a year but now i turn it on it goes though its set up than cranks twice shut off without stratering reset on its own and fires fine. I made my second appt. with the place that put it on cause the first time had a two hour late cause a guy called in. Has anyone had this happen? They guy at the car place said it sounds like the bypass and its not covered go figure its 40 bucks he said if its bad. I dont mind paying if it fixes it but the werid part is it seems to work fine than do this every other week???

thats bullshit, if the bypass isn't working its because they fucked it up or it was defective out of box; a good shop would replace it IF either one of those is true. they wont take a lose on it anyway, and if they haven't even looked at it, it sounds like they're trying to screw you.

my remote start very rarely takes two cranks to start. i have m/t, not sure if it matters, but it usually only happens when its been sitting for days.

i thin executive has remote start on his, maybe he can give his input.

Some wiring problem is what's happening. My car takes only 1 start, but if it sits for 3 or more days I end up starting with a key because the car sat for so long.

ok i got a question about this as well, is it possible to get a remote starter w/o replacing the function on the stock key? cuz i dont feel like having a giant key chain on my car keys just for a starter. in other words can i use my stock key to remote start the car w/o going to the dealer?

Sure you can, but you'll have to be creative! If it were me...I would disable the trunk latch and use the trunk open button to then trigger the remote start...should work just fine...

Not really, the key remote sends a signal to the car to trigger the trunk lock to open it. Instead of opening the trunk, you'll have that wire activate a relay.

Then you'll have to take your remote start remote apart and locate the switch you push to start the vehicle. It will have two contacts on it...when you push the switch these two contacts are what gets connected together. You'll hook these two contacts to the relay, and now when you push your trunk key it will activate your relay, which will in turn make the connection in your remote starter remote which will start the car...

Don't think so, remote needs to be programmed to the brain and your key is programmed to your car and not your "remote start" brain.

Its personal preference, my car sits in the garage a lot so if its been a while I just rather start with a key to avoid remote starting and it taking more than 1 crank to do it.

damn, thats sweet, when the two way viper alarm for iphone gets a few more software updates ill do this. that way my oem key does everything i need it to do, fast, and my iphone will take over the pager side. then i only have to have the key and iphone, no big transponder thing in my pocket

I'm confused... Are you saying they reprogrammed your stock key to remote start your car like in the YouTube video???

I thought maybe he was just talking about using the factory key, since that's all that's shown...

I wasn't aware that it was EVER an option from the factory...that's what I was looking for confirmation on...
