Disabling Steering Wheel Lock

Ive just recently gotten a new alarm system installed and included is a keyless push to start system. Very cool stuff except for the fact that I need to insert the physical key to unlock the steering wheel. I tried taking a look in the steering column for the mechanism that does this but cannot see much without a full dismantle.

To be clear, what Im talking about is the security feature that kicks in when you turn the wheel without the key and it locks in place, making the car undrivable. Has anyone found out where to disable this? Its most definitely a mechanical system and Im guessing a simple removal of a spring or pin somewhere would fix it.

EDIT: Ive made some progress, Ill update here for the sake of others wanting to complete this project.

EDIT2: In order to disable the steering wheel lock you will need to pop open the steering column plastic shell. If you lay on the floor of your vehicle and look up youll see where the ignition key cylinder intersects with the steering column. On the underside, directly where they intersect youll see a metal "panel" of sorts. You cant remove this without giving yourself a headache so what you want to do is drill straight up into it. Just breach the panel. Once you do you can use a pair of needle nose pliers and pull out a small spring, this is what forces the lock pin into the steering column. For safety sake I removed the entire ignition component and applied a little adhesive to the pin so that it wont bounce up while driving.
