Is anyone else having this problem?

It seems like every time i am on here now i constantly get the page not found message, many times repeatedly before the page will actually come up. I don't think its my computer as i can surf the web fine and club3g and mitsuoama never give me problems. Russ, any ideas?

i was getting it to, using safari. seems to be better now. i keep getting pages that dont load though, theyre just siting their with a spinning circle (aka hour glass).

Yeah, I have the same problem. Although I've never said anything because I really only log on here at work, where my proxy blocks everything, and causes total chaos.

I don't have any knowledge of the forums infrastructure (the server it's running on, the container it's running in, the database serving as its data store, how it's scaled or the implementation of the application itself), but I would venture a guess that processing threads with numbers like [ 46,313 replies | 162,767 views | 1,158 pages ] or [ 17,776 replies | 17,777 views | 445 pages ] is going to consume a shit load of system resources (CPU cycles, memory and network bandwidth).

I also am having this problem right now with the site. Every time I try to post it goes to some crazy page. It will still post the message, but it take way longer.

those aren't the only threads where the problems exist though. I know absolutely nothing about this stuff either though

Think of it like this...

Let's say you're on a freeway with a significant number of lanes. However, each of the lanes has a slow moving vehicle in it and at certain times these slow moving vehicles become adjacent to each other so that no other vehicles can pass them. Now applying that analogy to computers, specifically the container hosting this application. Each request that we make is a thread of processing. There are only so many threads that can be processed simultaneously. Even though this is typically a configurable setting consideration must still be given to the hardware constraints. So you just can't crank it up and expect the problem to go away.

That said, once the maximum number of simultaneous threads are met all subsequent threads are queued for processing until the necessary resources are freed and it's allowed to get it's slice of the clock. But before the resources can be allocated to the queued thread they must first be freed by the container and the underlying OS, which takes system processing in and of itself.

I suspect we are seeing time-outs resulting from excessive load and at times may even be falling victim to dead-lock. Again, I'm just guessing.

i have, this happens a lot to me. most of the time i click the link in my email box to access the thread. im on a mac, using safari. happens when i hit post quick reply as well...basically, it happens a lot and seems to be random, even my PM section does it

I keep bumping up the available processor and memory resources on the site. Please tell me when it is good or bad so I know where we should be.

Please be aware I am sensitive to any site performance issues and want to do whatever is necessary to alleviate them.
