Might be cool to have like a private forum for some of the forum regulars to OT BS in, people with a certain post count or post frequency or something.

Just an idea, if people don't like it no biggie.

Im registered to a forum that has what Tim is talking about, and I must say, it sucks for me. I dont want to be a post whore just to get my posts up for me to have access to view other topics and such, but when thinking of it as "what if I did have that post count", then yes, I would like it. I think it would be neat to do whatever, Idk... I guess I cant really say much about it b/c I dont know what the other forum has in theirs; such as: the topics and convs. they have. I cant help but wonder, "are they making fun of me!?" hahaha jk, but seriously, I think it would be pretty cool. It would encourage users to post, the only bad side of this, is that the post may be all BS, just to raise the post count... Idk, just some of my thoughts

Yeah good point, the idea is just to get people to post and hopefully read other posts and promote less repetition, but at the same time it promotes the opposite because the majority of people post without thinking or reading to see if there is already the same topic created.

Although, on a better hand, most users on this forum do post more serious topics and such. Im sure that if we mantain the "serious" discussions, that we could try to prevent stupid posts. Am I a stupid poster??

My own opinion is as long as you are trying there isn't much more anyone can ask, and you try much harder than most, so much props there.

Isn't OT a members only section? I will have to err on the side of being non-exclusive. I think having a post count requirement sucks. Even a post count for something as simple as an avatar sucks! But I won't say it doesn't have its merits.

I.e. Spam.

But really and truly, the only effective way I know to properly "maintain" a site is strong and active moderatorship On the other forums people just revert to chat clients.

I don't even know what group chat clients there are out there anymore! I know that's kinda veering off into the "exclusive" too... but that could be an idea. Most people, I don't think, are sophisticated and interested enough to try to figure private logins and chatrooms (Java/ASP/M-SMS).
