Dudes and Dudettes,

In my avid postwhoring I've been noticing a LARGE amount of SPAM on the site! These cellphone/i-phone one-off posts from ghillie knows where are really frickin' annoying!

It's not just in the general posts either. I've noticed one pop up in the Regional forums as well.

There anything we can do to prevent this from getting more and more out of hand? I'm not sure if these all have to be done by hand, or if there are Spambots out there targeted at message boards.

I think we have to figure out a smart way to combat this. An extremely active mod group will also definitely help, and sorry to say this - I see some of our mods aren't as active as they should be. Sorry

But this is ridiculous. And annoying.

Well thanks for the big thumbs down on the modding job were doing, its great to know were loved lol. On a side note if you do notice I try to keep all the forums I have mod powers over as of now( I would gladly take on more forums if Russ wanted me too) are pretty clean and dont have those spam threads left in them. And there main ones for sale etc.

Sorry - I wasn't referring to EVERYONE. Just that I get to see who's online most of the time, and it looks like some have gone AWOL.

But oh well... I'm sure we do all we can

i block the spammers everytime i see them.

I have been working on drumming up support with the moderating staff to help keep the spam down. All forums have problems with spam, especially national based ones.

It's not just the forums.

I've been talking to a friend of mine who works for Telus Communications (who also owns a Lancer). He said spam has become ridiculous in the last couple months. 98% of the mail traffic their servers move is spam.
