Detailers section

So, after I bought my BMW I started cruising bimmerpost.com and the biggest difference I see between the two boards is the detailing section. As a detailing buff I feel at home over there as the thread they have is always filled with sponsors, tips, and massive ammounts of photos of some of the most impressive details ever. I say we get a detailing thread as a permanent post and even look into getting some sponsors over here. I buy from a few specific websites that deal in commercial products and I can see if they are interested in posting over here with their products. I think this could open the door for a lot of people that still use drive-thru car washes or the california blade to dry their car. What do you all think?

That's my point. On bimmerpost it's specificaly for detailing, not showing off new headlights or whatever. It's a thread that is ran by the detailing sponsor, in this case it is detailedimage.com....Anyway, they do a great job of limiting it to detailing and car washing as well as adding a sticky for FAQS and TIPS etc. I've been on this site for almost 2 years but just don't see much enthusiasm for detailing. Some of us have spent 30k or over for the car+mods so why not talk about the way we take care of it and share what works and doesn't. I can email the guys I buy my stuff from and see if they want to promote or whatever. I guess it's up to the MODS but I think this would be a good edition to the site

Well shit, I was so motivated to make this post after surfing bimmerpost that I didn't bother to read the 2 or 3 post beneath mine. Anyway, I wouldn't mind looking for sticky worthy information if the mods wanted to make a detailers thread. I spend hours looking at all things detailing anyway. So lets do this already

I would actually like to see a detailing area as well. Tips on how to keep our 4g's clean and looking new year round would be great info. I would love to find a way to keep it looking somewhat clean during winter with all the snow/salt/ice/rain/etc, haha

Carl, I am moving to Texas. 3 years no deployments. But seriously.....get on board with this. If you make the thread, I will move back to WA.

Maybe change the title of one of the How-To's in the Eclipse Garage section, and let someone make a big how to post on it? Or really you could have different sections, like wheels/tires, windows/glass, upholstery, etc. But what do I know, my car is always dirty =/

well russ, as I stated in the who wants to be a mod thread; Let me be a mod in the maintenance section and utilize that platform to promote and discuss all things detailing. Not to mention I can try to attract a vendor and let them promote their products. It seems a lot of people would like something like this and I have a shit load of typed information (some attained from other detailers) that would be usefull to many other members on this forum. If not we can always just keep talking about useless wings or awesome stick on carbon fiber looking dash kits.

i've posted a thread about having a Car Care section before
i think if there have been this many threads made, and this many people wanting it, we should just make it =\

i know that Show and Shine has those things in it, but they also have things in there such as people getting new taillights or i just wash and waxed my car, blah blah blah, i know people on this forum have there own secrets on keepin the 4g clean, and i think we should have a section COMPLETELY dedicated to the sort, so as soon as you open it, theres stickys on proper washes in different seasons, which chemicals work best on our soft paint, how to make your car show quality, how to clean the inside of the car, things people miss while cleaning the car, how to clean the rims, the undercarage, waxing properly, i can go on and on with this, i am still up for being a MOD on this
im gana make a poll if thats cool

A howto: from a knowledgeable member on how to properly clean their vehicle should be placed here: http://club4g.org/board/maintenance/

I agree that the second link you mentioned would be a good place to start a Detailing how-to/thread for us enthusiasts to talk about tips, tecniques, and products but.......

doctorres112, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

If you want to give me temperary access or something I will be happy to post this very long and amazing how-to on almost every topic for detailing.
