There's stuff going on around the site that may have created some loss of functionality or a change in usability - for better or worse. Starting this thread for any and all observations / bugs / suggestions on how to make this upgrade work best for the whole community.

First noticeable difference in navigating forums - the title panel of the thread has disappeared. Or perhaps it's just the text?

Don't know how we want to define this field... if we want to slice and dice by "area" of interest, or several...

There's always a risk when requiring categories. Requires config/maintenance that's restricted to admins/superusers, and has to be general enough to be reusable and portable.

You mean like when you create an event, there's only the "save event" or "reset" button? It's the same way on Club3G. That's how that is programmed.

I don't get many options with the default software on this. I'll check over on vbulletin.org and see if they have some enhancements over there.

I thought maybe someone who posted about this sometime last week was a little noobish, but it is an issue --- if you revert to mobi, you won't have a way to revert back to dark. The only way to actually achieve this is by logging out, and then back in.

A remediating method might be to have more options than just one Dark and Mobi. Maybe one that says "Revert back to Dark", so when someone accidentally goes to Mobi in a full browser, then there's the option of reverting back by hitting the "Back" button.

Also, I know not a lot of folks really have a mobile PC or very robust phone that can handle a full browser skin, but could there be an option to actually view the forums in Dark rather than Mobi, on a mobile device? Instead of dropdowns, perhaps there could be an actual link that brings you to a link-based selection of what type of skin you want to use. This would be on a mobile device.

I've got another observation/suggestion - about the Chat module:

There are always two people "chatting" online, even though they're never really online! Something tells me they've either got their machines on 24/7 on the forums, and the server somehow keeps their IPs live, either because they never logged out of the applet, or... I dunno.

There's gotta be a timeout setting for this, right? Not that it probably affects bandwidth at all, at any time. Rather, it's quite misleading having people's SNs on there even though they're not.

Those people are actually there in chat. I purposely do not want a timeout to allow this. However, they should probably mark their selves away.

They'd be logged on all day.
