Tires need some help/suggestions

Hey yall,

I am going to be purchasing some new tires soon. Looking at some nittos for the brand but the question that I have for yall is the size of the tire i should go with. I want more traction without sacrificing that much acceleration. The setup i have on my drag rims right now is 215/50r17. The specs from drags website D9s : Drag Wheels. Extreme Alloys. | DR-9.

First time really messing with buying tires so i wanna do it right. Thanks for the help

those rims you're looking at are only 7" wide, 0.5" less than stock GS rims...
i had 215 tires on 7" rims, and they looked "fat", balloony...
not so much an issue for drags, but you'd be better off with wider rims / tires for better traction...

Nt05. I love them plus they are a fair price for drag radials.. But unless ur going LSD I'd say look in to 8" wide or higher rims... But stick with the size 17" cause tires are cheap that size

yeah i need new tires bad. my front tires are Yokohama yk520's 225/45/18 and my rear are Kumho Ecsta SPT's 235/45/18. from what ive read, the yokohama tires i have are meant for a suv/crossover type. my kumho's have practically no tread on them aaaaand they're a performance summer tire so needles to say im sliding around a lot in the snow right now without even trying! im looking at gettin a set of 4 Kumho Ecsta 4X all season's got good raitings on tirerack and good test scores. once i get a nice set of rims, i think im going to get the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport's to put on em. been lookin at tires for the last 3 hours at work lol.

O and im goin with 235/45/18 forgot that part

WOW timming I've been looking at tires also. Presently have 235 45 18. Have a few miles left, but due to hard driving I've beat the fronts to death

So far I'm thinking about the Falken ZE-612. They are a 40,000 mile Z-rated tire from Discound tire. Full price with insurance is about $750.00

I saw NTB has a $100 off four tire running, but have not gotten any pricing from them. I'm going to ask Discound Tire if they will work with me for this discount.

JW, would a 225/45R18 91W tire fit the stock 18" rims?

It will fit, but a little thin and you'll lose a bit of traction compared to the stock 235
